I started bed time story when my daughter started going to school. Why? Because when my daughter first started school, her school performance was so bad!!

So in order to improve her English, we started to read her bed time story.

Now she is 7 and she has to read by herself and we all listen to what she read. So we don't read Chinese ga!

For my son, he started earlier cos we don't want him to 'repeat' what his sister gone thru at school!

oh I c, Does people in Macau speak Portugese then? Do u need to learn Portugese when you were at school?

My husband also can't live in HK though he can speak Cantonese, he can't read/write Chinese. I wonder how he can survive (how to find a job) if he doesn't read Chinese??

Maybe if we win the lottery and doesn't need to work, then we can live in HK!

Don't worry, boy does not necessarily naughty, my boy Donovan is very sweet + listen to mummy.
But my daughter Kiyomi is more naughty and not listen to me!

Maybe here not as much as HK but still there is homework + test + assessment at school!

My son's classmate at nursery is half chinese and half greek. I saw the father (greek) speaks Greek to the little boy but his mother (Chinese who knows Cantonese) doesn't speak cantonese to her son. So the little boy speaks good English and some Greek + no Cantonese.

Alma,

I got a swiss friend, who speaks 3 languges. Her father spoke French to her and her mother spoke Germany to her when she was young. She picked up Italian at school as she was in Italian part switzerland. She told me when she was young, she knew which languge should speak to who.

Also I got a Chinese friend in HK, who speaks Mandarin to her daughter, her husband speaks English to her daughter (as he is europian) her daughter learns Cantonese from other kids.

I think no problem for speaking more than 2 lanagues.

I think newly wedding (under 7 years), will call each other , "darling, honey, sweetheart.................." But after 7 years, female calls the male, c6 And the male calls the female, "Wai".

HaHa, so funny story. Actually, I called Portman's English for 2 months before she started going to school. Now she knew she got 2 names, one is English, one is Chinese.

But, If you ask her name, What is your name? She will answer "姐姐" Becuase she thinks "姐姐" means a name of big girl.
