Portman's so cute, I bet she has grown up alot!! Wished I could have seen you when you were up in manchester last time !!

Yes ar its funny but my friend was really worried cos they both spoke to their little boy in cantonese at home so when their son started nursery he couldn't understand english at all, so when they had the second son they spoke to him in both english and chinese, didn't want to repeat the same suituation!!

Portman's English is very good (I think) with English accent!

I don't speak English to Kiyomi and Donovan at home! So when Kiyomi first started school, her English was not as good as those other English children!

But they can learn, can't they?!

I just feel weird to speak English to them if my English is not very good!

Yes I am Mrs Deng but I still haven't changed my name yet, I joked that I'll change it after 10years cos you never know what's going to happen

!!

We got married here in 2003 with just a small reception wedding then went to HK in 2004 to have the wedding party (wedding banquet) cos my mum and dad's family are all in HK!!

Your siblings also in HK? My whole family is in HK, my parents + siblings (1 sister in Australia) and I haven't been to HK for 6 years la. Last time I went, Kiyomi was 1 year old and she was sick (vomit + diarrhea) for the whole trip (nearly 3 weeks). So I was too scared to take them to HK again!

But my parents had come to visit me twice in the past 6 years!

It is not necessary to change to your married name. There is no law saying you must change it!!! My keep my maiden name, too. Because I just feel too many documents to change...... and too lazy and too troublesome to change it!

But it is very funny ga, you know most married women use their husband's surname here. So the school office lady once thought I was divorce!

Just because my surname and my kids' surname is different!

my friend the thinks the same as you ar, she says her english not fluent so now she will only speak to him in little english, like 'eat', 'drink', 'sit down' etc, so when he starts nursey he won't be like his brother who didn't know english at all....

I think that doesn't help! Because I did speak those simple English to Kiyomi but she still could not speak complete English sentence when she started school (and everyone was speaking very fluent English)! But she is at year 3 now and of course her English is fine now!
