can you tell me more about the difference between over-due and premiee baby? sure i will not and can't force Terence, but of course if he doesn't need night feeding by himself, my life would ...
jstn,
According to my son's pedi, overdue baby is more mature and usually can latch on better right after birth. My nephew has been overdued for 12 days and he could wean his night feeding after 1 month. For premiee, since he is not fully developed (depend on how early he borns), usually is poorer in latching on and likes to sleep more. My son was bornt a marginal premiee (nearly 36 weeks) and he did not know how to latch on so I need to use a nipple shield to nurse him. Moreover, he's slower in gaining weight at the first few months. However, all these are only rough observations and not apply to all overdue or premiee baby.
I can sleep for about 5-6 hours (not continuous) everyday. Sometimes, if Amanda can take naps in the afternoon, I may have extra napping time. Recently, she stays awaken and wants to be nursed more frequently in daytime. She can sleep for 2-3 hours in the morning but I would like to take Spencer out to the park or go for a walk. Usually, after the last feeding before 10pm, I go to bed and will wake up in between 1-2am for pumping then feeding or feeding then pumping. I will try to empty the breasts. After at least 3 hours, I would wake up for another pumping for no more than 5 minutes so that I can leave enough time to produce milk for the morning feeding. Amanda always wake up in between 6-7:30am. Sometimes during daytime, if Amanda eat little for a particular meal, I will pump out the "leaf-over". Now, I have stored around 30 bags of milk. Yesterday, when I tried to thawe 2 bags of milk, the storage bags leaked and I lost some milk.:-( :-( So, I wrote an email to the manufacturer and complained about that.
Don't mention it. Keep my phone # and give me a call if you need to talk to someone. As a 2nd time mom, I know how stressful being a new mom is. We really need support to go through a lot of tough time on childcare.
