Hello, phoebepanpan and all BK members.

Thank you very much for all info about Japan. I will visit Osaka on 12 Oct and proceed to Tokyo on 15 Oct and leave on 20 Oct. I have some questions and hope you can help. (sorry, unable to write Chinese as computer problem).

This is the first time to Tokyo, 2 adults + 2 child (4 1/2 years).

As read, Super Hotel is very good. However, should I book at Shinjuku because it is easlier to travel to Thomasland and Disney.
It seems that I cannot book the twin room for 4 persons, maybe I will book a twin room and smuggle 1 kid inside. Is it possble? In such case, I cannot book the room with breakfast, it is convenient to buy breakfast there?

I’ve just been traveled in Tokyo with my family (2 adults and 2 kids of 10&6 yrs old).
We stayed in 新宿.
We booked a twin bed room with one additional bed, but my agent did tell the hotel that we are of 4 persons, and asked for a bigger room.
Though we have got only 3 breakfast coupons each day, as the coupons did not get dates on it, we just used the coupons (4 coupons a day) to have the breakfast, until we used them up.
There was one day that we had to go out early, so we simply buy breakfast at the station for that day.

I stayed in Century Hyatt Tokyo. Originally, I wished to book Keio Plaza, as I noted that there was an option of not having breakfast. However, it was full when I booked for it. Hyatt was a bit expensive than Keio. It was also a bit further away from Shinjuku JR Station. Nevertheless, it got shuttle bus running between the hotel and the station every 20 mins.

Pls share your experience in taking kids to travel.

I plan to visit Osaka on 12 or 13 Oct and travel by train to Tokyo on 15 Oct and back to HK on 20 Oct. 2 adults take 2 boys (both almost 5 years old).

Is it too long and too tired for kids?
Is it possible to travel without strollers even I know that is very important. I think I have no energy to carry 2 strollers.

Oh, are they twins? I think strollers are very essential (whether you will bring it yourself or not) ! Have you planned your itineray? If you'd mostly visit theme parks, you may also considering renting strollers there.

This was my second visit to Japan. Last time I went there when my younger son was 3 years old, but we joined tours. I rented strollers in theme parks, and even I lent one when shopping in department stores!

This time, I stayed in Tokyo (with 2 days in Hakone) for 8 days. Here is my itinerary to share with you.

Day 1 : 機場--新宿
Day 2 : TamaTech
Day 3 : 川越
Day 4 : 台場
Day 5 : Disneyland
Day 6 : 箱根
Day 7 : 箱根-御殿場-新宿
Day 8 : 新宿-HK

Apart from Disneyland, I'd recommend TamaTech, especially if your kids like motors.

Yes, they are twins.

My tentative schedule :

12 /10 : HK to Osaka
13/10 : Universal Studio
14/10 : explore in Osaka city
15/10 : Osaka to Tokyo
16/10-20/10 : 2 theme park : Disney & thomasland. Nothing special arrange in the other days yet. We will just visit 2 places each day along the JR stations. My husband insits we may take a tea break/rest any time they need. However, I am quite agree to take the stroller.

As mentioned, which shopping ctr that you can borrow a stroller. What is Tama Tech?

Sorry for replying late.

TamaTech is a theme park of various kinds of rides about vehicles. My sons liked all sorts of rides, particularly those that they could drive on their own – I mean those without the tracks. They thought that they were the real drivers!

Most of the games are for kids of 5 or above, but there are some catered for younger kids. For some rides, young kids can also ride on with their parents, except that they can’t be the “driver”.

I got there on Friday. Unlike Disneyland, there were not many people. The queue for most of the games were short. I only had to wait for 5 minutes or so.

Originally, I planned to stay there for half a day, then went to the Tama Zoo nearby. But, my boys just did not want to go. They rode on nearly all the games. Utimately, we stayed there for the whole day. We took the 2nd last shuttle bus back to the station.

When I went to Tokyo 3 years ago, we had tried borrowing strollers in department stores in Shinjuku - 伊勢丹, 三越, 小田急. We just stayed shopping in Shinjuku, don't if such services are available in other department stores.
