yungah,

i'm thinking to visit HK probably in Dec but still thinking .... haven't got the tickets yet. since my boy will be in kindergarten next year, i think it might be hard for him to take a whole month off from school. also i always thinking to go back to the workforce.

is it still very hot in HK in Oct? which part of HK are u staying? i don't like the air quality of HK. a lot of times i got sick in HK unless i didn't stay in the cities. some of my friends' kids got allergy too when they were in HK.

I live in San Ramon and my son just turn 2 month old today. I have no close friends have kid yet ... nobody can share with ah :cry:.

Really admire you that you can go back to HK for 2 months. The earliest time that I can go back maybe late 2008 or even 2009 because I just have a daughter who is just 1 month's old. My husband will not let me bring her and my son (18 months old) to travel that soon. By the way, my parents are planning to go back to HK for 2-3 weeks in Jan 2008. Which airline you take and how much is the ticket? I'd like to get some reference for them. Thanks.

We just moved to San Ramon 2 months ago. I like it here ah ... especially two asian market just opened in this area, so that we don't need to drive all the way to Oakland or Fremont for Asian style market ... although I moved to US from HK for 10 years lu, still like to cook and eat Chinese food alot more. How long have you been in the state ah? We were live in Concord before, but we found the school district is pretty bad over there, so we moved to San Ramon ... even it's pretty early for us to worry about since Little Matthew is just 2 month old ... ah ah~

Are you stay home to take care of your son or working mom ah? I went back to work from last Monday and my parents are helping me to take care of Matthew, but it still a little difficult for me to say goodbye to him in the morning .

I have been in the US since 1994. I don't usually cook Chinese food that much so it doesn't matters that much if the asian stores is close or not to me though it's nice to have more options anyway. :D I usually go to Trader Joe's and farmer markets to buy food but I go to Ranch99 for asian food some times as well. I feel so tired/lazy to cook after works sometimes so I just cook something simple like soup noodle or pasta etc.

I go to work and leave my son in daycare during weekdays since he was 11 months old. My mom is visiting for this 2 months so I brought my son back home so my mom can spend more time with him. My son will go back to daycare when my mom leaves in Nov. My son is much more mobile now and it's very tiring to keep up with him as he walk/climb around too much and too fast. It's a tough job to watch the "monkey" everyday. It's a relief to go to the office instead of staying home with him everyday. :D

By the way, can your bb sleep thru the night now?

so where do u and yr husband work? in the Easy Bay?

i'm a f/t mom with a 4-yr-old boy and we live in SJ. my hubby's been saying moving to Pleaseaton since my son was born, but i said no coz his office is very close to where we live now so it'll take time for him to commute if living in the East Bay.
he considered the San Ramon area becoz he likes brand new houses and the school district there is ok.
i've been thinking abt going back to the workforce. but most likely it'll be hard for me to find a job in that area since there're not so many hi-tech companies there.

i hv more and more friends living in yr area now. i'm a friend who said he's been waiting for 13 yrs for the 99 Ranch Market opened there.

Sorry to reply u late, so busy last week.

If u want to back to HK in Dec, better get the ticket now. It's hard to get ticket for Dec.

I will stay with my parents at Shatin.

I am taking Singapore Airline, it's about $850 for Oct.

I am going back for 3 wedding ar. Of course your husband not let you back to HK, It's hard to travel with a 1 month and 18 months old. The air in HK also not very good for the health of your little girl. she is too young.

I am taking Singapore Airline, it is about $850 in Oct. If mid Jan, it will not be too expensive. You can check the price online.

u must be busy preparing yr coming trip to HK ...
so how soon r u leaving?

actually my husband still hasn't confirm with me if we'll be going or not. we're still concerning where we should stay. it might be kinda inconvenient if staying at a hotel with a young kid at a hotel for a month. for our last couple of trips to HK, we just stayed at my 99's place. i liked where she lives and it's comfy to stay at her place; however, i was not that happy. especially when my hubby went for business trips from HK, i afraid that i'll hv conflicts w/ my 99.

AKW,
You can try "Dor Ho" on Pacific Avenue (cross street Stockton) but it is small and it's very old HK style - you find your own table and you might need to share the table with the others, not too clean, no fancy decoration but the food is good and cheap. I like to go there early in the morning or in late afternoon so that it's easy to find available table. Remember to try shrimp "cheung fun" with parsley, ha kau, siu mind, etc.

The other choice is Yam Yuen on Clay at Kearney (next to Holiday Inn). They offer 2 hour free parking at Holiday Inn and the food is reasonably priced with quality.

Great Easton is good but expensive. Also, it's not easy to find a table during peak dining hour.

The dim sum at "Tin Hey Lau" on Grant Avenue is good too. It also serves dim sum at dinner time and all of them are made instant.

BTW, thanks for your information and I would check the fare for my parents. They used to take SQ but recently they shifted to CX so that they can acculmulate mileage for Asian Miles program.

My father-in-law is coming to visit us next week. He has nver had authentic chinese dim sums. That's why we would like to let him try some good chinese food! rose-mag, I'll try to go to one of your recommended restaurants

I just noticed your tickers on the bottom!! You have a 1.5 years old son and an one-month-old daughter? Wow, you must be very busy! Anybody helps you take care of them? My son will be 1.5 years old next month. He already keeps me very busy...
