I will be using the US$99 for 4D3N promotion (excluding breakfast) for staying in Marriott Resort and Spa from 22 July - 25 July. We have to attend a 90 minute presentation as well. There will be an extra 20,000 reward points credit to our Marriott account.
Does anyone know around how much is the breakfast buffet for each person in Marriott? Thanks!
Thanks! I 've checked the breakfast buffet is 490Bhat per person plus tax. I've also asked them to change the 20,000 reward points to 3000Bhat cast coupons, so that we can use it for eating/ purchasing in the hotel. I've booked the Thai airways by using the Star Alliance points. My flight is 8am in the morning but we have to transfer in Bangkok, so we'll arrive Phuket around 1:00pm. Hope the weather will be fine during our stay.

Yes, transit is quite boring but no need to pay air-fair by SA points, I think u always fly around! Don't worry about the weather, if sunny - jump into the water, if rain - shower be cool! Have fun.

We are also planning to take KA package but the price is like $34xx for 3D/2N at Allamanda Laguna Phuket or $35XX for 4D/3N at Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort. Are the prices fair?

I’m planning to Phuket on earlier of Sept, 5 days 4 nights, with my husband, my mother, my 16 months old san and one maid. I prefer to live in family suite, since easier to take care each others. However, the rate for suite seam expensive. I have checked several hotels, so far I chose Jiva Resort and Spa hotel, located in Kata beach area, the hotel seams good, but I know very few about Kata beach, do you have any comment to me.
Besides, do you think that it will be too young and risky to bring a 16mths baby to Thailand? Any place is suitable and worth us to bring him to visit?
I plan to Fantasea, ride elephant (go with Island Safari), to egg island, Patong beach and Phuket town for dinner and Phromthep Cap. Could you pls tell me how long should we spend on such place and any special activity should we take there?
我多年前也入住過 Kata 區嘅 Club Med, 附近環境很好. Kata 離機場比較遠, 但去 Patong Beach 和 Phuket Town 較近. 我當時由Club Med 租車去 Patong Beach 和 Phuket Town 各去了半天, 車程約半小時多些, 司機在當地等候四小時載回都不過百多元港幣. 也參加過Local Tour 半天遊, 每位約港幣一百元, 參觀布吉島最南端, 美麗廟宇, Gipsy Village等.

First, if u want to stay in Phuket's hotel for 5 ad + 1kid live together, u better choose a two bed room suite as well. Actually kata's hotel or resort quite old except new build up but small & boutique type one.
jiva resort is ok, how's u book? via internet or hk agent? What's yr budget? whick beach u have read or u just only want to stay at Kata?
Phuket is a safe place for tourist, don't worry! yr son only 16 months, I don't think he will understand what the fastasea show for! Elephant trekking is safe and fun for all age! For my friends they just back from phuket, the wave was strong for Khai island trip. And much tourist bit by the fishes, it's so dangerous for kids.
There worth for dinner at Phromthep Cape, sunset with yummy thai food, excellent! Oh yes, I've a guide

If u go to Phuket on Dec, it's a peak season at Phuket, the hotel in high rate and many many tourist there. Allamanda not allow for 3 adults and 1 kids stay in one room, or will get extra cost.......
On Dec, u can try the Kamala beach & resort, they just finish the renovation on 4 Sept. It's the 3 stars one,or u can try the small hotel at Patong, that's more easy to manage day tour select.
For me, I shedom to take the package in HK, cos' everytime I stay in Phuket over 8 days, the package only for 5/4nite, if over they charge a lot.
the lastest I'd visit Phuket on 14 April 04 and stayed at Kamala Bay Terrace resort for 8 days and PP island for 3 days. And we rent a jeep (2 calls) drive around and stop whereever we like. Free and leisure!!!
Normally,I'll buy the ticket in HK agent and book the hotel via internet, u can choose the cheaper and in promotion one. so that u must check around and u will know more hints or benefit that u get.

Wow, i almost miss yr post!
That's good time to visit Phuket on Oct, all still in low season rate but the weather is better than June to mid Sept. Allamanda(3-4 stars) and Le Meridien(5 stars) in different grade, so it's depends for yr budget. Allamanda - Patong must take 30-40mins but Meridien-Patong just take 10 mins.]
There's so many hotels in Phuket, see what yr budget? seaview? balcony? Pool lovers? shopping? hiding away?U must to clearify what yr desire. Btw, all the hotel have basic facility..

sea canoe is worth to go:wink: , sure that yr son brave enough to crossing dark cave (must lay-down when the canoe go into the cave), also they are professional for leading tourist to have cave explore and fun canoeing. The tour is safe and varity! 67 yrs old? no problem lar if he really enjoy the sea-sport

When u will go to Phuket? cos' u must visit Phuket at right time, especially u go with kids, they all want to enjoy the water sports gar! If in thai' low season 'May - Oct' the weather's not stable, rainly most, and on July and August the current will really strong so u can't join the water activities, what's a pity! If u can give me some info..exm.. budget. need. eager for shopping or just for kids...etc, I'll try my best to tell u some info...(as I know lar)
Oh yes, Kamala beach & resort (it's on the beach one, not the same as Kamala beach hotel) will be reopen on 4 Sept 04. It's just take 10 mins drive to Patong, very close. easy to reach the shopping place and night life.
About rent a car, there's easy to drive but beware of the motorcycle, they always drive-crazy! Int'l driving licence not 'must ' but for safety. try to find a big or reliable co. for car rental.

We are 2 adults and 1 2.5 yr old. As you mentioned somewhere, we'd love free & leisure. We just want to relax for several days but at the same time have some interesting activities with our girl. I can imagine we will dip into the pool at least once a day. After reading thru' this thread, the activities in our minds include elephant ride, trip to Khai Island, visit to Phuket Town, Patong beach and night market, sunset at the cape.
We've heard of island safari. Is that hiring a boat to visit different islands? Suitable for 2.5 yr kid?
Our friend just came back and highly recommends Evason on a private island. What are your comments?
We plan to stay for 6D/5N. Would it be a good idea to stay at 2 different hotels?
Budget is flexible. My husband always says that for a little more $, he would prefer a better hotel/airline but I always look at maximising value for $.
