I think you will not regret cause the quality of 28-70 for wedding photos is very good la!

I will be taking wedding photo tomorrow night too!

which other L are you gotta to use with your 28-70? I am still struggling what lens should i bring along for tomorrow.

The 28-70 is a must and i will probably bring along the 35 / 50 prime to take some snap shot. Then i probably will need a wide angle or should i bring the 70-200 f/4L to take some portriat? I'm not the main photographor.

For those wedding pictures, I used 24-70mm and 70-200mm... It seems that it's quite useful to use 70-200mm in a wedding party. My preferable setting is to set it at ISO400.

To answer your question, I'm using 580ex. I use 內置收藏的集光反光板 at that moment & around 45角度up (for those pictures using 24-70mm). If using 70-200mm, I use 90角度 direct 閃燈 as it's quite far away. BTW, I do not use a softener in my flash.

As I was not the main photographer in last time, another colleague and me both use 580ex and he also carried 420ex at that time. We tried to use remote flash... (playing... heee) We put 420ex at our left hand side and use 580ex as master control.

Will you bring 1-2 more battery & image storage device tomorrow?

I will bring along 2 battary for my 300D and a Tripper (as its internal battary is dead, i need to carry additional 4xAA battary for it). Actually to save time for changing the CF and backing them up (i just got 1x 1G and 1x 512), i am thinking shooting JPEG in outdoor and take RAW in indoor. Hope it can work.

So you didn't use any wide angle lens for that night? I am worrying about the 28 x 1.6 is not wide enough (though i don't think i need to take group photo). If necessary, i will bring the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 and give up the little little white. My Reporter 200 cannot carry so many lens and they are quite heavy if i bring all of them.

Actually, I used 3L lens on that date (16-35, 24-70 and 70-200)... as I was not the main photographer... I used 24-70 and 70-200 most of the time and I'm able to have dinner as usual.

In the banquet, there were 3 main photographers (need $$) & 2 backup photographers (my colleague and me - both free of charge)... And, most of the time, 3 main photgraphers are very close to the groom and bride... I usually use 70-200 to take close-up pictures (no need to walk - lazy man) from my sitting place to stage/platform.

Which 'metering' mode will you plan to use? I prefer "center weighted" at outdoor and "35 area eval" for indoor with flash.

Why you use RAW if you're not the main photographer? Why not take more pictures using GIF mode?

Yes, those samples are from 1Ds mk II and 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS. Really nice and sharp.

The wedding photos are really terrible. I took 7xx photos for the morning and evening. The worst thing is my friend didn't hire a pay-photographor and he only relied on me and one other friend as the event photographors. As such, i can't really took some snapshot but always taking group photos. Really tried and no fun at all. I will just give him that RAW file and he will need to process them by himself (he also playing 300D right now).

Yes, chichi joined little gym. she is going to have 4the lesson coming sunday and also chichi cousin (4 years old) also joined too. I join there coz' i agree their view that children need to have more exercise and more exercise will train themselves up both physically and mentally. How you feel after Adrian's trial class?

Did your friend let you know he only relied on you two only? In this case, did you bring any image storage device? If not, how can you take so many RAW pictures? If your friend is not using C1Pro, it's quite hard to process all of them.

Last time, my flash was running out of battery. It's lucky as my colleague has spare ones can share with me. So, that's why I suggest that you should bring more battery / additional charger.

I think I'll not let Adrian to join Little Gym at this moment. Little Gym's place is nice and it's good for kids to do more exercise.

FYI, Adrian've joined Gymboree 'runner' and finished late December last year. It's more or less same as Little Gym... (running and do exercise). So, my wife wants him to join different kind of playgroup like music class or drawing class. So, we plan to join Gymboree 'Music trial Class' soon.

FYI, my colleague suggested that I can try QPCard 101 (http://www.qpcard.com/) for color correction. I bought 2 cards from him (15 cards in one pad). He said it's quite easy to do the color correction in C1Pro or PS (using Image / Adjustments / Curves and then select grey field on the card). Will test it in this week...

I didn't ask how many photographors before the event, but my friend just told me to do some snap shot. I think both of us should be blame of.

Luckily, i brought along sufficient equipment like wallet, battary etc. that day so i can take RAW for him. I will leave the RAW processing to him as he is using C1 Pro also (thanks for you)

Actually Little gym is already the third pg chichi joined. She joined the Kindagroo last summer and now she is also going to a pg by 明愛 twice a week but the 明愛 one is focused more on 靜態 activities and thus we want her to have some exercise. So we picked Little gym.

Yes, it should be good for leting the child try more different kind of activities, i also thinking letting chichi join some musicial class later, she really likes to dance.

Yes la, very nice pictures.

But you can have picture quality like that anytime wor. Just borrow or buy a second hand film cam like EOS 50 or 33 and do it on film ma! Use Fuji REALA film once in a while for nice big picture la!

I think DC is very convenience but for large print, film is still better.

Last Sat, the pro guys use both DSLR and film cam. One guy with 1Ds and the other 10D and EOS 3. All L lens, except a 200 2.0. Many time the guy with 1Ds use high speed continuous shoots and no flash. Feel so cool, as I would never do it on film cam.

BTW, is the C1 Pro you guys talk about?

Yes, agreed that film still produce the better quality photo comparing with digital (maybe 1DS mk II already can make the gap close but it cost HK$60+).

C1 Pro is a software to process RAW file to TIFF/JPEG.

I like DSLR as I take more pictures than film SLR... I have Canon 50e but I only take 1-2 times once a year... After I use DSLR, I almost use it every week.

If I have money, I'll not buy film SLR anymore as I'll save more money to buy DSLR...

If I have 1Ds Mark II (in a dream, will sleep earlier today...haha...hopefully dream come true), I think I need to buy extra memory card... maybe 4G or more as the file size is quite large and the performance of the camera is excellent, so it can take many pictures in a short period.

Try shoot a roll of slide with your film camera and you would appriciate why some peoples still insist on using film camera even they also owns a DSLR.

Also the crop factor of DSLR is a big problem for those who like to take landscape photos. 28mm is just the starting point for landscape shots, 20mm, 17mm and 12mm is their favour lenses.

yes, understand. It's really good using film camera as the quality or overall result is better. If you have a film scanner, actaully you can scan it to a JPG/TIFF file with 12 million or above resolution. (better than normal DSLR and it's cheaper)

I believe that it's more durable and it's cheaper. However, the future trend of film camera is not good as you may hear the news like "Nikon to increase digital production, exit film"

If I print a 4R size only, then the result is really acceptable or 'say' satisfactory. You'll find significant difference while compare with DC and DSLR with same resolution... It's quite hard to show it's from a film camera or DSLR for general users. (even though you can find the filename at the back of the printout...haha)

Yes, the crop factor of DSLR is really a big problem... so finally I need to buy 16-35mm due to this reason. However, I only use it for few times... as I like to take my son's pictures more than landscape shots.

I think we can use another angle/viewpoint to see this issue... it may be a problem but it could be a benefit if you like to take tele (such as 300mm or 400mm). You do not need to buy expensive LENs... with this crop facture issue...

At 200mm the crop factor of DSLR makes the focal length 320mm... (use 1.6x as an example)
