thanks for your advice and I'll start to eat oatmeal as breakfast ... hope my cholesterol level will become normal soon la...and I think I need to do more exercise (I'm a sport lover before!) when I have more time (no need to bf!)
testing food? I give banana to Joshua for four to five days... and see his poo poo is okay... then I switch to another fruit, apple and also for few days... the nurse said don't mix the frutis or food together coz easy to catch allergy...
bb will learn swallowing when he got practical training... I remember Joshua is also like this... the first few times not quite okay but they learn things so fast and now... no problem la.
diluted apple juice? I uy Heinz / Gerber apple juice loh! coz I'm afraid the loss of vitamin...
Orange juice? no laa... try once but bb then diaherra... so wait till he reaches 1 year old.
Cereal? Joshua also doesn't like it ... so my mum plans to cook diluted congee to him instead...
denden,
I haven't given cereal to my baby but I think it's better to use your milk to make the rice cereal as it tastes more familiar to your baby. FYI, 1/4 cup equals 2 oz but as Laputa said, it's probably baby's taste you have to follow.
BTW, before the cereal/congee can replace a meal, should I breastfeed my baby first or after the cereal?
All,
I think I've lost all the weight (30 pounds) I gained during pregnancy. Thanks to the hard work my baby has given me! However, the skin on my tummy is still quite loose and there's still some stretch marks...will get back to yoga when I have more time.
My baby doesn't like water either. I'd be happy if he can take more than 1.5 oz a day. The doctor asked me to force him...it's easy for him to say but it's another thing when it's your baby crying and pushing the bottle away.
I asked if I can give him diluted juice instead but the doctor said no as he needs to get used to drinking water or it'll be difficult to introduce it to him when he has fever
Laputa, thanks for your suggestion. I think Sandythepooh's suggestion on making apple juice is quite good. I will try. How many spoon you start give your BB?
Before my BB's poo poo pattern has changed after feeding cereal however, her poo poo pattern becomes "normal" now -one or two times per day. I think she's already adjusted it.
All mom,
do your babies sucking finger? my BB's situation is so serious? Do yu babies teeth grow up?
Charis mom.
PS. I think I can login for discussion sometimes is because the time I use is not so busy. At night, it is quite difficult to login. Do you have the similar problem?
Do you know if egg will cause allegy? Hayhay got rash on his face (eczema?) this morning. His daddy also has skin problem and I've already avoid seafood and peanut per Doctor's advice. I have fry egg last night (last time I have egg is a month b4 and I forgot the situation last time) and not sure if this is the cause. Anyway, I am unhappy and sorry for hayhay now
BTW, I use water and Mestela cold cream on the rash area and this work only when the rash is not serious. Do you have any other tips? Or probably I should take hayhay to see the doctor la!
Nevertheless, another good thing is, Hayhay seems is better with the cereal now as he took 4 baby spoon yesterday. But I noted he take less milk now....... from about 26-28 oz to just 20-24oz when I'm at work........ and he is not so "eager" in taking his milk compare with his behaviour before......is your baby like this???
yes...... hayhay loves to sucks fingers and he put everything he can hold in his mouth...... he even suck my clothes during feeding
?-( I've checked his gum but not swelling...... maybe still have to wait for sometime gwa.......
Baby suppose should not eat egg white b4 1 year old, but never heard of becoming allergy if mum take it and pass through bf. can't help. Maybe you can consult with nurse in the clinic
I still haven't started to feed Joshua cereal as a meal yet coz I want to wait till he reaches 6 mths old... but I note that he consumes lesser milk... similar to hayhay (my bb's chinese name is also hei hei  ) but so far as he seems okay and fine... I'll not force him to drink more.
However, everyday I feed him 2 weaning spoons of banana or apple and his poo poo colour and odour also change abit... but the pattern is normal as before...
I've brought some pear juice and apple juice from Gerber and Heniz... not yet start to feed him but at least I have some stock at home so that I can use it whenever I think fit to Joshua.
Suck fingers? Yes of coz... he has this habit since he is 3 months old...
Yes, same as hayhay, Joshua's gum hasn't swelled and so I think need to wait for some time la.
For Eczema or rashes on face... Joshua has this experience since he is newborn... still have this happen frequently...
I've brought him to the clinic but the doctor said unless very serious, otherwise no need to put the medicine cream (coz it is steriod) and hurt bb's face...
So what I usually do is to clean his face more frequently and then put some vaseline (for him... I dunno whether it's proper on you but work on him)... on his face...(of coz very thin layer)
then few days later, you will find his face become white again
Food taken from you? dunno also coz I eat as normal... but I don't eat peanuts coz I have allergy on it...
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR. Wish all families happy and all babies healthy in the year of Rooster!!!
Sandy
Paulina, for my hayhay, I checked the naming book before hayhay was born and choose a couple of words that we like. We asked a "see fu" to check hayhay's "eight word" and he also need words with "fire".......熹 means "sun" and I also hope my hayhay is like that ar..... warm and happy lor......
Can you explain more? I haven't heard b4...... my gyn doctor just remind me to make sure enough intake of calcium...... so I went to Manning to buy the calcium supplement and the pharmist there recommend a calcium pill with vitamin D supplement...... he said vitamin D facilitate the absorption of calcium. However, I have not took the calcium pill eventually, just keep on drinking soya milk etc. daily, since my sister (who is also a doctor) recommend me to take food naturally lor......
all,
how's the progress of weaning of your baby??? Hayhay now took half bowl of cereal daily with some fruit mash and some diluted juice. His boo boo is hard and became better after giving him papaya...... he like papaya very much....... I try to give him water but he refuse and push away the bottle ?-(
I haven't given papaya to Joshua so far, is it okay to give him papaya mesh also?
for rice ceral, I tried few times (only few spoons) and he is okay... by means of the colour... of his poo poo... and will start to boil some congee (diluted) to him soon also.
For banan mesh... helikes it very much...
For diluted juice... he doesn't like much... but he likes to drink water since he is small..
I just found another article about this issue and I feel more comfortable after reading this...... we are relatively at lower risk and I guess exposing to sunlight and regular medical checkup should be ok.........
btw, hayhay had 3 boo yesterday (he usually had a very big one every 2-3 days) after taking 3 days of papaya........ hopefully he should not be having diarrhea since the boo is sticky (not waterly) and he's as usual ...... but I'll stop giving him papaya today la
When I take hayhay to the doctor's for injection before CNY, the doctor told me that baby food and cereal are in general more nutritious than congee (though we will add meat, fish and veg) at this stage..... since the amount of meat/veg etc. that BB eat is still small...... I plan to let hayhay try congee after he can take a bowl of cereal, but will keep on feeding him cereal
my hei hei also has a big poo poo every two to three days ... and like now, we will find small amount of poo poo in one diaper and one or two hours later, very big poo poo found afterwards...
I usually give him (as a habit now)... banana mesh or apple mesh at abt 7:00 pm and then when we have our dinner at 8 pm... he will then either have some 'cereal' or 'congee'... so far okay la...
Yes, I also will feed him cereal + congee together.,..
My baby's doctor recommended us to give multi-vitamin drops daily, though I only need to give half of the recommended amount on the label. I'm using Poly-visol that I buy from Mannings.
I remember reading somewhere that breast milk may not have enough iron or something for babies older than 4 months. Since my baby sleeps quite early, he only takes milk 4 times a day so I think it's better for him to take the vitamin to ensure he gets enough nutrients. And it's a good excuse for him to drink some water afterwards.
Yesterday was Joshua 1/2 year old b-day... I was very happy of it coz he can now sit properly and play alone for some time... plus I have already BF him for 6 months la...
I'm thinking to stop BF laaa... coz (1) he seems like solid food more than milk... coz his consumption on milk drops in these two weeks but he likes to eat solid food more (e.g. congee, fruit mesh, cereal or soup)... and he can have nutrients from various food laa...
So I have a question... how to stop BF without much pain??? any advice... I want to stop BF in a progressive way but I haven't got much idea of it...
FYI, I pump 3 times a day... (6 oz, 5 oz and 7 oz)
therefore I can only think to rent the milk pump for one more month loh!
Why don't you consider feeding Joshua for a longer time? It is a valuable experience and precious moment just between BB and us ar, also, Joshua can get more antibodies ma........
Anyhow, I read from the bf section of BK and some mum suggested that you can reduce the duration of pumping (like from 30 mins to 20mins etc.) and gradually, cut down the no. of pumping....... maybe you can start with the pumping at office......
For me, hayhay also consume less milk..... he took over 24 oz last month when I go to work and now just about 16-18 oz after taking cereal and fruit mash. I do not have so much milk as you ar, just 6-3-6oz. I guess because of the work pressure, I can hardly pump more milk in the office :-|
I plan to quit the pumping at the office when hayhay take 2 meals of solid during daytime, but will keep on pumping in the morning and afterwork so as to store milk for use on the next day.
I hope to continue bf at least upto hayhay is 1 yr old (or as long as he still want) coz the feeling is so sweet and (touchwood) hayhay is very healthy so far (except for the eczema which I believe will be worse if he's not bf)......
