That is great that they can do the procedure at the clinic. For Palo Alto Medical Foundation, they have to do the egg retrieval at a hospital at San Jose. I still haven't made a decision on the clinic yet..... I'm going back and forth between FPNC and PAMF. Since I will have to pay for the IVF out of pocket, I think FPNC could be a better option for me because the cost is lower than PAMF. However, the doctor that I have been seeing at PAMF is very good.......
Normally, how many embryo will the doctor plant in your womb? BTW, are you still taking Chinese medicine during your IVF procedure?
no la...I stopped the Chinese medicine as I don't know if there is any side effect for taking both at the same time.
How many embryo?...that depends on your age....for me...they only allowed me to put 2 back.
wow.... 16 eggs got fertilized! You should have a very high success rate on this cycle. Do they allow you to choose the gender of the baby? Since you already have a daughter, will you ask them to just transfer male embryo? I will make a consultation appointment at FPNC in couple weeks and I will let you know how it goes! GOOD LUCK to you :>
I had the ET yesterday. I transfered 2 perfect embryos (8A). I was surprised when he told me that I have 12 embryos that I can use and 8 of them are perfect cells (8A) and 4 are 7A. I remembered my first time, I only had 1 with 7A, 3 with 6A, and 3 with 5A.
But I don't want to give myself too high of a hope, because I am afraid of disappointment.
I remember they mentioned to me during my first IVF that state of CA doesn't allow you to pick the gender. Well..as long as I am pregnant, I will be thankful already. Can't really ask for too much. Do you have a preference for boy or girl? My husband prefers a girl, and since he got one already, so he is satisfied.
It is awesome that you got 2 perfect embryos. You better take a lot of rest and eat a lot of healthy food in the next 2 weeks! My husband and I have no preference for boy or girl......I can't even get pregnant yet so I don't wanna ask for too much. All we want is just a healthy baby! Did Dr. Nelson did the ET for you? I hope I can get the IVF before the busy accounting season (Dec -Apr)
Dr Nelson did my ER and Dr Abusief did my ET. I wish he did my ET too because he is such a nice guy who talks to you and gives you a lot of support. Dr Kim also is a nice gentlement.
I thought you are working in a corporation. So are you working in a CPA firm now to do tax filing for individual? Or you are doing the auditing for corporation?
It seems you have a very good experience with Dr. Nelson. I will definitely have my first consultation with him. I do audit for corporations and the hours is very LONG during the busy season. I cannot imagine trying to go through the IVF and working 60+ hours per week...........
Yes, Dr. Nelson is very good. But one thing that I have to tell you. He likes to close his eyes when he talks sometimes, so you will feel like he is sleeping while he talks. The first consultation that he had with us this time, he almost felt asleep (that's me and my husband impression). I hope that doesn't scare you await. In general he is not like that. He is a very experienced and well educated IVF specialist. If you don't feel comfortable about that, Dr. Kim is another good choice too.
Since we are the return client, I could tell you he did read through my record/history before he met us. The very first thing that he asked me was "how's your little baby. It's 2 years old already." I was surprised. I didn't expect him to say that. It made me so warm. He didn't repeat everything that we already know. He just spent time with us to talk about the plan for this time. He felt asleep when he was waiting for us to ask him question (he always asked us if we have any question). Since we didn't have any question for him...i guess it's a bit boring at the moment. He is a very prepared doctor. Everytimes when we saw him, there was no surprise. He seemed remembering my case very much. Even something that I told him something 2 days ago, he still remembered it by the time when we met again.
Dr. Adamson is the founder of the FPNC. I don't know if he is in practice right now.
Dr. Kim is good too, but I like Dr. Nelson more. He gave me a very warm feeling.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I will go with Dr. Nelson! BTW, do I need to see my OB/GYN for all the check up before I go see Dr. Nelson? or I can just go see him directly first as I assume he is an OB/GYN too....
I did my IUI in Kaiser and FPNC asked me to get all my medical records. I assumed you are also like me which you already did most of the tests during your IUI at PAMF. I suggest you should go see him first and tell him you did the IUI at PAMF. He will probably ask you to ask PAMF for your medical record too. Then they will see which test you are missing...then you will start from there!
Hi, I decided to do a regular check up with my OB/GYN at PAMF next week first. If everything is okay, I will go see Dr. Nelson for the IVF. How is your 2WW? I can't wait to hear your good news :>
Yes, my blood test showed I am pregnant now. I am waiting for my first Ultrasound on next Monday. Hopefully everything goes fine. I wish I can see the heartbeat at that time.
CONGRATULATION!! I'm so happy for you. Best wishes to you and your baby.
I called FPNC and seems Dr. Nelson is in San Jose most of the time. I was trying to schedule an appointment in Palo Alto but he is only in PA once a week. My job is so busy that I have difficulty figuring out a time that I can leave my work in the middle of the day to meet him. How did you handle between all the doctor appointments and work?
Anyway, I hope I will have a successful experience at FPNC too!
It won't work if you only can go to the Palo Alto office and if he is only there once a week. You will need to see him more often once when you are close to the Egg Retrieval process...about every other days. Plus usually the appointment is in the morning because they need to take your blood for the test.
I actually talked to my manager about the IVF treatment. I told him that I had to see my doctor very often in these 2-3 weeks time frame. I usually set my appointment in early morning around 8:00am - 9:00am. I took 8 hours off and used these hours to cover my absence.
