Mcrl, you know what, my husband wanted to give the name 太一 to my boy as well, because this name is a daoist one. but I rejected. my hubby is a daoist, and in fact, 一沖 is also from 老子道德經.

(2) frequency

seems like more feel comfortable with bi-weekly schedule. I suggest we log sep 3, sat afternoon first, and then further discuss on aug 20.

(3) daddy or not?

I suggest for the first time, only moms and babies join the playgroup, as it's pretty difficult to accommodate 10+ adults and 8 babies.

(4) massage

I didn’t attend massage class but read a book. I massaged my baby since newborn. But agree with Nokin, it's almost impossible to massage him now, as he moves all the time.

(5) reference

remember I talked about a book I was reading, in which a group of moms in the US formed their own playgroup? I've made copies of the chapter and would like to post it to u such that u can read before our gathering, if you wish to. We can use it as a reference. Think it's productive to our planning/discussion. U can PM your address to me if interested. If not, I can bring it to u on aug 20.

我想買多一set地墊playgroup時大家同bb可以坐地.我想買ABCD果o的,但去過好多地方都搵唔到,我o係toysrus買o左1234地墊,想再買一set,但真係唔想成地數字,我會頭暈o架!

或者請問有冇其他選擇,未必一定要有ABCD,colourful就得!

I have the 地墊. If you like, I can bring them along on 20th. Or I have another suggestion. Instead of the ABC or 1234地墊, you can buy the 膠墊 from 家庭用品shop. They charge $$ per square feet.

1933年出土於湖北荊門市的郭店楚簡中，除了《道德經》外，另一篇道家名著叫《太一生水》，它本來是一篇佚文，現出土了，傳統道家哲學有關“太一”、“天”、“地”、“四時”、“陰陽”等觀念在古時已有普遍理解的想法，作出有力的考証資料。“太一”，又叫“泰一”，其義又通“大一”，是先秦時期對“道”的指稱。其內文有“太一藏於水，行於時”，漢代《易緯•乾鑿度》有“太一者，北辰之神名也。”《史記•天官書》有“中宮，天極星，其一明者，太一常居也。”太一居於北極，行九宮，1977年安徽省阜陽縣雙古堆發掘了西漢汝陰侯墓，出土了一面「太乙九宮占盤」，載有九宮的名稱和各宮節氣的日數，與《黃帝內經•靈樞•九宮八風篇》的圖完全一致，與河圖洛書完全符合。…現代玩術數的人只曉“天一生水”，其實源於“太一生水”。

“一沖”之名引自《道德經》中“道生一、一生二、二生三、三生萬物，萬物負陰而抱陽，沖氣以為和”。“一”是混沌，既不是有、又不是無；粗略地理解是“太極”。“二”是天地或陰陽。“三”，是有了天地後，出現沖和之氣；有了和氣便有人和萬物。所以，“一沖”的意思，是由“一”的混沌狀態衍生“沖”和之氣，是製造萬物的基本元素和歷程。

i've planned to buy one more set for a period of time, as i want my floor to be more colourful and it's also for my bb playing more comfortably, and for our playgroup!

so it's ok for me to buy a new set, i'll buy it from jusco tomorrow, see if there's still any stock.

Hi all moms,

I'm searching some information for our playgroup. I have looked at the main theme and activities in other playgroup centers. Here is the summary. Maybe that can give you some insights:

Foonhei

STUCTURED PLAYGROUPS (0 to 3 years)
A typical playgroup session comprises of:

- CONCEPTS of hello and goodbye, turn taking, sharing and basic manners through song and gentle persuasion;

- CONCEPTS OF TIME - days, months, years, weather, seasons through the use of a day board;

- RELAXATION TECHNIQUES - massage and deep breathing;

- LEARNING TIME with big picture flashcards using the right brain theory (check info). This covers vocabulary, numbers, maths, letter recognition, phonics and musical notes. We never limit your child’s learning ability;

- FINE MOTOR AND TACTILE PLAY - Purposeful toys and activities are given to the children and the teacher will demonstrate how to use them to help develop coordination, motor planning and expose them to sensory stimuli. These abilities are needed to develop pre-writing and pre-reading skills;

- INTERACTIVE STORY TIME and rhyming time;

- MUSIC TIME – Songs with actions and musical instruments such as shakers, bells, wooden sticks, tambourines and drums;

- GROSS MOTOR ACTIVITY of the week to develop ball skills, balance and muscle strength all imperative for the development of young bodies and minds.
RIGHT BRAIN THEORY

Research indicates that children and babies can absorb vast amounts of information through the right side of their brain in the first six years of their life.

Effectiveness of flash cards:
At Koala Kinder we use big picture and number flashcards to do this. If children’s minds are relaxed their right brain will be open. Quickly flashing cards to the children with no more than half a second per card will enable the right side of the brain to absorb the information. If you show the cards too slow the left side of the brain will open up and cannot absorb the amount or retain the information like the right brain can.

When I first started teaching this method I wasn’t sure of its effectiveness but the proof became very apparent to me. In the first two months of consistently showing the cards to the same group of babies, I was constantly amazed at these very young babies’ abilities to remember the cards. When I asked one of the babies’ “Where is the refrigerator?” instantly the baby would grab the appropriate card. This happened over and over. I swapped the cards around and did everything to make sure it wasn’t just luck. This baby was only six months old as were the other babies in the class.
When this continued to happen with each child I taught I was convinced of the theory and have continued to add it to my programs now for two years. I have parent testimonials and thank you letters which gives me great joy to know I have taken part in the development of such young minds. Most parents will see results after just four to six weeks.
