The magic key I refer to is the following books published by Oxford University Press. This set is not easy gar.

I do not mean the 神奇儿童英语 Magic Box English Series ah.

As you know I am now trying to bid a set of ORT Read at Home at ebey. How about if it compares with the magic key you mentioned just now. Which one is better for kid aged 2-3

Thanks, I will study more before my final purchase, they get so many books and hard to tell which is which. My son reads whatever I give him, he has completed Ready Readers and Hello Readers. What I mean by completed is "he can read all books on his own." But he will re-read again an again.

To supplement his learning, I teach him high frequent words and sight words, it helps a lot in his reading process. I like to write something and ask him to read and make a sentense.

For pre-schoolers, of course Read at home series more suitable la.

Magic key series is suitable for primary kids in learning sentence writing.

Read at Home (Level 1-4) is for 3-6 years old. They will have Level 5 & 6 later for advanced readers in April.

For Magic Key, it is for primary students and the series is out of print for at least one year. I'm afraid you can only get them from e-bay only.

For your case, you can try Read at Home Level 1 first. I used RH 1 first and ORT Stage 1+ later (you may skip Stage 1 as they are just pictures). You can also try Commerical Press Online Bookstore to buy the whole set of RH, but it takes around 3 weeks to come.

He is attending a local nursery in Shanghai, so I did not teach him Chinese at all. His school is not keen in teaching them reading/writing, but he knows some Chinese. Learning Chinese is very difficult so I won't send him to international school.

Sure of course.. cos I bought 16 out of 19 titles from her more than a year ago. I bought the remaining titles from ebay instead.

Think most of stock are gone, but I still can see a few books on the shelf last month.

我發覺喺 ebay bid 書真係一 d 都唔易, 一來時間唔啱, 二來通常佢哋都唔會話寄到香港要比幾多郵費, 次次都要 send message 問, 之後又比人 bid 咗, 我已娙 bid 咗呢套書幾次都唔成功, 有幾次個價仲 bid 到超過 GBP20 (未計郵費), 就黎冇心機 bid 啦

Don't feel disappointed. My history with the bidding in ebay is not long either. You're right, a lot of factors are out of the bidders' control. However, I learned that I have to change my attitude when bidding in ebay. We are not bidding for something that is unique or precious like antiques or watches. So, if the price does not match with my budget, I would rather let go and wait for another chance.

So, no need to be upset when your bid in certain ORT set is unsuccessful. Rather, determine your 'bid max' and wait for another chance. There is always another set coming later. In my opinion, ORT is being adopted as part of the reading circumlum in UK and "Gwai Lo" loves the idea of reselling after use. So, there should be a lot of such books available sooner or later. Patience is the key.

Surface mail should be the cheapest, may be just around GBP 5-8 depending on weight. But it takes more time for delivery.
