It is becuase they include bbq lunch. If you just need boat transfer, it should be very cheap. Last time I joined the tour agent inside Sutera Resort, hopping of two islands -Sapi + Mxxxxx Island transportation fee only 50 dollars HKD or RM . I think non-resort guests can also join. Tour agents at public pier must be more cheaper.
Pre-booking I think not necessary . From pier to outside islands only about 15-20 minutes . Schedules very frequent .I see there are 2 types of boats - ferry (carry over 100) or boats for about 10 persons. If you have small children , take the ferry is better. Check it out when you book.
Sorry, I don't know the details. Last time I just joined the tour agents inside Sutera Resort as the price not high . It seems no restaurant in Sapi, But I tried one in Manukan Island . Please see the details below:
碼頭位置大約near the end of the KK downtown. patayypatayy's website has shown the location - Boat/Ferry Terminal. This is a public terminal, there's ticket counters for island tour. I went with the hotel tour but I know some people just go there and buy tickets to the island.
How old is yr child? The best thing to go with the tour was they asked my child's age and prepared her a fitted size life jacket and snorkeling gear. Life jacket is very important, make sure to ask them to prepare.
Most tour will include 2 islands. If you go by yourself, you need to pay the entrance fee to the 1st island you go (They call it Marina Park, the park is make up by 5 islands, ie Sapi, Manukan & Mamutek...), 1 price for 5 islands, so keep the tickets.
Most tourist will go to Sapi, there's small restaurants and drinks. Food was cheap and good. We tried fried rice and fried instant noodle. For younger kids, better to bring along food la.
Sapi is good for fish feeding, but if you'r looking for snokeling, Manukan is more natural, more live coral and fishes than Sapi. Probably Sapi just has too much tourist. Sapi's tiolet is stinky and smelly. Manukan is more quiet and clean, so I like it more. We were lucky, we ate in Sapi, food was good;then went to Manukan, looked like only a small restaurant and not much guests, we didn't try.
I had bought a snorkeling set for my daughter in HK, then let her used to it in the hotel's pool. She enjoyed snorkeling very very much in the island.
For all moms will go to tropical countries:
my friend's kids had consume the ice from the Shangri la hotel's ice cube machine(not sure which one); all kids like ice machine......then both kids had serious 肚"阿" and need to see doctor in there. So be careful of "生冷野". I only provided can soft drinks and warm water to my daughter when we went out.
Also Saba city is not quite clean, you will see lots of rubbish along the street, hard to find rubbish bins. So hygiene standard..... Also you need to pay for using public tiolets in the shopping mall etc, but still not quite clean. The one I went had no tiolet seat and damp, very troublesome for girls! So bring along packs of tissue.
Yes, I buy ticket via airasia
You may try to call fourseas again...they may get air ticket for you... but may be Malayisa airline to DragonAir
When u plan to go ?
May I know if 1 price for 5 island visit is valid for same day only ? If I go to Sapi 1st, then there have ferry to other island ?
Any shower on the island for simple cleaning after playing sand ?
My kids are 4 & 9... is it meant that no snorkeling set provided for kids ? Is it charged separately ?
Go to public toilet need to pay $ ?!
How abuot tips in hotel ?
How much we need to pay normally ?
Also, May i know Sabah custom busy or not ? Check in at immigration take long time or not ?
I believe it's valid for 1 day only but not sure. I went with the hotel tour, the boat was a small and long speed boat just for our family and 3 boatmen. They told us went to Sapi 1st and Manukan 2nd, they just waited for us in the island and informed us when it's time to the 2nd island. Not sure how others will arrange if going by yourself.
Manukan has a shower place for a light shower. Sapi should have one because it's the most popular; as I said the day we went had many visitors, the toilet was very smelly, so I didn't use it.
If you go with tour, they should provide everyone a life jacket, snorkeling set and bottle of water. Make sure to bring towels from the hotel. Life jackets should have full size for all ages, except infants. Snorkeling sets I saw in HK is 6 yrs & up. Just try to ask them. My daughter is 10, she’s wearing the jacket all the time and I held her hand when snorkel.
Sorry, my husband is the treasurer, I didn't notice the exact amount, but only a few coins per person for the public toilets and things in KK is very cheap, don't worry. And all expenses in the hotel just charged to the room, no tips are necessary. Except when they carry the luggage for you.
If my observation was correct, there's only about 6 terminal/gates in KK. So it should not be a busy one. The day I went there was just 1 arrival plane.
P.S. The boatman said always goes to the island early because the water is clearer. We're there about 9:45am.
