medela professional grade (symphony and lactina) are much much better than mini electric. of course, they are also much much more expensive if bought. so, i rented.

我既奶量唔係咁穩定, 一來因為我只係開始左5 星期, 二來因為囡囡唔肯埋身食 (完全唔肯, 連幫我啜幾下都唔肯)。

我發覺, 如果只係用租返黎既 lactina, 會有越泵越少既現象 (三日下來就跌左幾安咁樣), 但如果我在用 lactina 之間, 加上一兩次既 avent 手泵, d 奶量就會回升返, 唔知係咪因為 avent 泵有個 massage cushion, 會o係泵既時候按摩到個乳暈部份, 所以有助 stimulate 出奶量呢?

唔知其他用緊 lactina 既媽咪有冇呢個問題呢?

i guess the stimulation helps. i only use lactina for few times while used symphony frequently in the first 2-3months. maybe the dual expression phase of the newer medela really helps. initially, i can only pump 1-2oz (also, after i got sick). now, i can pump 13+oz this am. i think if the avent manual is used accurately, milk production can really be stimulated. of course, the pumping schedule is also important.

according to the "answer book on BF" by the LLLI, hospital grade pumps are recommended for new BF mothers who have relatively little milk production. but when their milk production is steady, cheaper pumps can be used with the same effect.

Wow.. so jealous ah.. 13 oz...

My milk prodcuction's been static.. about 180-200ml each time.. I pump 4 times a day!!! Cuz I could only do this after i go back to work... :-(

I've just been using Lactina for 4 days, my milk production's pretty stable.. about 150-180 each time.. i'd express milk by my hands sometimes after pumping!! I've rented Lactina for 3months.. hope it won't make my milk production drop la... :-(

Oh, gunsou, I am so jealous too. How come you could express so much milk (your milk supply is generous)

Are you an exclusive pumping type like me? Or does your child take skin-to-skin feeding sometimes?

If you are also an exclusive pumping mother, then I think Medela Symphony must be more superior than Lactina as that increases your milk supply by that much.

By the way, I also have aMedela Swing at home. It also has two phases. But I don't know whether the 2-phases helps stimulate milk supply. If that's the case, then I will get it out and use the stimulation phase of Wing before I pump with the rental Lactina (oh my goodness, that also means I will be using all 3 pumps at the same time --> Swing for stimulation, Lactina for pumping and Avent for massage. Hahaha.....

i also experienced times with very low milk production (0.5oz from one side). i also found avent manual pump very good but the problem is that i got painful arm after using it for 3 days (i'm an exclusive pumping mother). maybe you can try swing w/ hard breastshield. i find swing slightly slower than symphony. if use the avent manual pump correctly, the stimulation is also good. but i still think frequent pumping and a relax mind the most important.
