Get a piano first.
Without a piano ==> not enough practice, waste of $ and dum boh jung.

If you want the info, I can ask TL re piano rental tomorrow, and let you have some other ref from other smaller piano companies.

I would like to be the piano teacher of course so that there's no need to pay salaries taxes

unfortunately I'm not qualified to do so. I started to learnt piano at the age of 9 and completed Grade 8 before taking the HKCEE. I do consider to further study BSc Arts (Music) but eventually gave up :-(

Mxx2 has a piano studio at TKW (not too sure)...if you are living close to it, you may consider to let your boy have the lesson over there

Well Ming2 learns the harp, which is a v difficult instrument, so she should be good in other less diff instruments. (Well at least that's my logic.)
She doesn't hard sell, and she shares her knowledge and tries to analyse for non-piano playing mums here. Her posts are v reasonable too.
Already v good in my eyes.

Contact Ming already and she also give me the studio's price. she said the highest price is the private's teacher price bor. a little bit confuse, But she said for my son case he need to start with the beginning. :-( :-(
waste 1.5 yrs $$ and his time tim. :-( :-(
anyway, i just want him to learn everything in proper way.

if Ming studio price is very reasonable compare with the existing teacher.

I rented a brand new Ottostein OJ121 (I think it is this model gwa, black in colour) from TL in Aug 2005, $430 per month. After renting for 6m if you want to buy a piano which costs at least the same as this one (calc at $19xxx), all the 6m's rental can be used to offset part of the purchase price. If after renting for 12m, can use max of 8 or 9m's rental (forgot exactly which one), to offset against purchase price. In addition you need to pay a few hundred for transporting piano to home. After delivery a tuner comes and tune the piano once. Need to pay for subsequent tuning.
This piano sounds OK for its price, of course not toooo good, but passable. Can still survive without tuning.
A piano chair (bench) comes along with the piano ga.

If you want to check TL's px nowadays, and whether or not they have brand new paino for rent (not always avail), need to tel them to ask.
Big pig knows somebody in the warehouse, and one of their branch store managers. I learnt about new piano for rent thru the one working in the warehouse. If you are not sure whether Jojo is interested in learning, can rent first instead of buy right away.
I also have a nephew who studied in APA (piano) who teaches up to performance dip or something (not sure of exact term) and of course I can buy from TL either thru him or the TL staff when I need to. But my nephew doesn't teach kids, no patience woh, and piglet's piano teacher was referred by this nephew.

If you consider buying a piano, go and look see in TL, they have a series called Lang Lang series, manufactured under Steinway and Sons, v reasonable px for Steinways ! May be manu in China though. Wanted to see this since I heard about it over 1m ago, but don't have time yet.

Yes, Kv still joins Stanford for swimming lesson. He should be able to pass advance butterfly by the end of June and will start 4 strokes advance in summer.

TL also has 2nd hand painos for rent, cheaper. But I prefer the brand new one, so.....
If you need referrals for renting 2nd hand piano with something like hire-purchase scheme, I also asked some BK mums before and can let you know.
But for myself, either I buy a brand new one or not buy at all. Don't trust 2nd hand pianos.

I have asked for renting a brand new piano from TL few months ago, the guy replied this year company doesn't offer to rent a brand new piano. So, I am still thinking to buy a brand new piano or rent a 2nd hand piano.
Besides of TL, someone said Canada piano is good for renting piano !

RMM & BS,

My son has been learnt for violin for a year, so far so good la ! And he has been learnt for piano for few months, but i got a elect piano only. Many weeks ago, i asked him to choose one musical instrument only. He choose piano. Do you think if he gave up violin would be shame ? But i am afraid he could not practise both instruments everyday !
