i guess you have a good deal. Lotus quoted $1100 (breakfast inclusive) to me. Quote from our agencies are even higher. Anyway, though I decided to confirm the booking with asiatravel.com today, I was told that the hotel is fully booked on the 9th -- our last day of my stay in Singapore. Since i am not taking Cathay this time, wonder if i can make hotel booking with them. I will try the other hotels on Sentosa.
1) Crown Prince, very convenient but look a bit old
2) Hilton S'pore, a bit far from the MRT station and the main part of Orchard Road
3) Marriott Singapore, very convenient and nice hotel, have a connection to MRT just downstairs
4) Meritus Mandarin, a very convenient hotel but depends on which tower you are staying, the south tower is a bit old
5) Meritus Negara, a bit far from MRT station, and at night if you are going back from MRT station to the hotel, there are too many "low cut woman" standing on the street.
6) York, quite a nice hotel but a bit old, have to walk a bit upslope before you can arrive the hotel, need to walk about 8 mins from the MRT station.
If the price is almost for Meritus Mandarin, Marriott and Raffles the Plaza, I will pick Marriott as the hotel group is well known for its quality. Otherwise if Marriott is more expensive than Meritus Mandarin by HK$200, I will pick Mandarin. The reason of picking the 2 hotels are due to their fantastic location. You won't feel boring in Singapore as there are too many shopping malls and department stores nearby.
For Raffles the Plaza, the best thing of it is the MRT station, since City Hall is one of the most frequent use "change" station, and hence staying at City Hall station will avoid the hussle and bussle of changing for another train.
For Raffles the Plaza and Oriental, I will definitely pick Raffles the Plaza as I use MRT for travelling around, instead of taxi. Hence if you are staying at the Oriental, there is a long way to walk from the hotel to the station, though there is the citylink right now.
may i ask for your help to propose an itinerary for 4 days trip. we will bring along my 2.5y son for his first overseas travel. could you include - aquarium in 聖陶沙, bird park, zoo, 爬蟲館, maybe quick look of somewhere has kid's stuff (less priority). i think we will ride on mrt or public bus in most cases (but not taxi), can you recommend any economical hotels which is safe and clean.
