SHAMOM,
When Amanda was 10 months old, I had no friend at all in New York.. so I brought Amanda to Gymboree play group.. that is the first place I met friends and also, let Amanda to meet people from outside (instead of looking at me with 4 walls at home). She becomes a lovely teacher pet, as she loves the praise.. also, she shows that she loves to help others. As me and fat bear doesn't care about "race", if that person with a positive mind, we are friends, no matter black, white, Hepanic... Then, Amanda just picked this from us ( but she really aware with those whom may harm her, she does stay far far away, e.g. my sister in law, and also, brother in law( her aunt and uncle ==> Fat bear's brother and sister).
Gymboree is a begining. Then, she attended day care at 2. And she started her russian class with no choice (as it is a russian day care). She starts her gym class and music class --just for fun when she was 2.5 years old ==introduced by her music teacher.. and now(we don't dare to cut it off.. Amanda will *chop my head off*

)..
Then, when she is 3.5 years old, she asked if she can learn spanish.. so we told her teacher about it.. then every day, she will have a 15-30min section to go to another classroom with a spanish teacher, learning spanish with other spanish student. and she keeps her Russian class, gym class and music class.
This September, she attends pre-K, and she saw her classmate attended ballet class after schoo at monday and wednesday, then she asked if she can learn it.. so we let her attend it.. we brought her to buy the ballet dress (which is out of my expectation.. $36 per each with discount --when we told the store that Amanda is a student from her day care)..

2 weeks ago.. she started asking me, she wants to learn piano.. I am still thinking.. not just because it is $17 per hour, it is also because her schedule is very packed..
All of her classes *actually is after school activities* are held from her school, so it is safe and conveinence for us to pick her up..
If you wanna start with an activity.. at week day.. to go for the day care as full day part time or go for the play group will be good idea.. (but play group mostly held once a week).

When did Amanda started the classes? How come she wants/willing to attend all those classes? I thought most kids are lazy, what's the trick? I want Chloe to learn something too but not sure where to start. Should it be art or music or sport or language? What is the right age to begin? So much to worry. My neighborhood is not good and I wanted to move but it's so hard to make it happen

sounds like amanda is really gifted. nyc dept of ed offer free gifted & talented test every year, if you r interested let Amanda test it out. & if she qualifies u could almost get private school education without paying la. kindergarten is the best time to get in. after that they only have 2/3 space a year open.
yup please come pick up the stuff tomorrow. sorry only one car seat for now cuz my kids spill milk on one and i need a spare for myself. but i have baby walker & boucer & toys & clothes.

I have collected the used clothes and baby gear from Zic, Socloudy, Jayne, Dorisbee, and myself.. and so far.. all our used item can help more and more families.
we will come to your home in the morning. please let your nanny knows.
Dept of ed.. I will ask Fat bear to search the info about it.. if the school fee can be deduce a bit.. then I definately will send Amanda to private school. (however, I have the same worry with you.. about the races/bias issue)

Amanada's school is so great. So flexible and a lot of activities! Chloe's classmates are 99% black and hispanic and most are very sweet kids. Me too I think good people are good people regardless of race. Chloe loves spanish (actually she loves dora/diego) but I am hoping she speaks better english first b4 intro another language. Now she still speaks chinese to her teacher and the teacher has no clue what she is saying (teacher is indian and hispanic). I'm thinking music class next summer when chloe is 3.5. Let me check what programs chloe's school have. I think I'll send Chloe to catholic school for kindergarten as the schools in my area are not good, unless we've moved by then.

chole is smart, as she can speak in chinese.. when she is only 2.
When Amanda was 2.. she knew less than 20 words.. so.. don't think about sentence..
her daily phase is baba, nine 之(milk), 抱抱, 俾, bye, 冇...

But I have never sent her to early intervention because I know.. it is the problem of her background.. she is a bilingual and first child in our family.. what can I expect..?
hee hee.. think about to move to staten island??

我老公都會去. 不過出年3月先去..佢只可請一個月假..咁我地咪一齊番咯..

alvin會唔會學左d大佬..有樣學樣..而家呢個時間..係copycat咁..見乜就學乜..叻叻都係咁..我99不小心用腳踢個公仔..佢即時學識...激屎我呀...我要教番佢幾日先學番公仔唔係要黎踢...係要黎錫錫架..學壞好快...學好就難呀..:-(

about catholic school. for austin's school, apart from the tuition. if u r non-catholic, u have to pay extra. plus if you dont help out in fund raising then extra $550. plus school supplies & uniforms. afterschool extra money again. and not really working parents friendly schedule, like every wednesday dismissal at 11:35.

wah. ho happy wor =) better go back more often before nat nat goes to school la. was gonna get hk ID for my kids but they changed the rules. they have to stay in hk for 7 yrs to get ID. was nat nat born in the us?
alvin has some serious behavior problem. i could tell he is gonna be the troublemaker in school in the future.

I thought of Staten Island, Jersey City, Bayside, Fresh Meedow, Rego park, Forest Hills.... I bet we looked around 80 houses/apts so far and still no clue where to live. I think Queens will win since C6 works in Queens and my office will move to Queens in a year or 2. Houses are so expensive and old. May be we will end up buy apt not house. My c6 is not Handy Manny unfortunately so I know I will be the one who take care of repair and maintenance. How come mom now a day have so many roles. So not fair.

11:30 get out from school? Lucky kids! I went to Catholic school in Toronto and no such thing. I heard tutition is about $5000 a year. The catholic school I wanted Chloe to go is my church. I went volunteer there b4 and I realized everyone at the event are moms of kids who go to school there. I sold raffle tickets at that event looked so silly when I think back, since I had to yell and ask people to buy although I know no one there haha.

Oh..everything is expensive in hk now b/c of free-walking people. I want to go both gar but u are right not much time. OP serves great childhood memory and I love riding that tram thing hanging between moutains. I plan to go HK again next year to attend wedding. But if I can get pregant next year then even better although trip cancel and my friend kill me

我可能會比叻叻出年去church所攪既group,一日2.5hrs. 係free架..不過要睇下佢地出年仲有冇呀..咁3歲時就入學啦.而家我報左chinatown果間天主教kindergarder,但要09先openday再interview,不過要再諗,因車程太長, 如我有機會move左去queens,咁可能又改去另一間讀.
而家叻叻都反豆架..出去食飯都要企係張high chair度.好在我不嬲有帶定seat belt比佢用, 咁先可食餐安樂飯. 係屋企,又係要企係high chair, 所以我而家張佢放坐'登仔', 比個toy佢玩住.先食到飯..:-(

想問呢..叻叻開始想自己食, 你地買邊隻spoon同fork比bb用呢..?

NatNat 係叻叻嘛,點咁容易比你治佢.

我用spoon個packaging已經掉晒,係S-shape,有pokadot呴上面,幾好用架,唔"舌"手,不過用耐左易發mold,有黑色一点点.
