103 is very high ah...I guess tonight u cannot have good sleep need to measure temp so often. Hope Gabriel is well soon. Tomorrow is Halloween will he need to stay home or can still go tnt? Is it really true that 發骨節will have fever or just an old saying?

do u go to church too? i was gonna send my older two to sunday school but i really couldnt get up that early. it's almost like a commitment for me .if i dont go to service, ppl r gonna critize me...so maybe later...maybe you should move to queens or..in chinatown there is a really good school. andrew went to interivew but couldnt get in.
P.S. 184 Shuang Wen School it's top ps in nyc. very good scores & after school they teach mandarin chinese.
very hard to get in.

will probably transfer austin back next year to public school. the reason he is going in cuz he was in chinese day care before & they put him in esl class in ps. so i transferred him out to catholic. well if he's good in english now then i would think they would put him in regular class in ps. transferring him in & out is not really a good idea but once u r in esl, it's almost like the end of the world. (for me at least)

Why Austin has to go the Esl class at PS school? Sai Sai is in Chinese Day care now and we speak to him mostly in Cantonese.

they give a pop test to evaluate oral english in kindergarten. austin is a quiet kid, i bet he didnt say anything during the test. anyway i went to see the principal & called region office but they couldnt do anything about it. so make sure sai sai talks during the test. once u r in esl, they give a very hard esl test every year & the passing rate (back to regular class) is so low, most kids stay in esl till 3rd & 4th grade. so definitely have to transfer him out.

I was in ESL class too for 5 yrs. It is very hard to get out once you are in it I agree. Even my nephew who was born here went to ESL since grandma spoke chinese at home. It's so tough to be bilingual, want the kid to speak well in Chinese while also want her to do good in English. Do they have ESL in preK too or only start at K?

Did you guys go TNT last night? Luckily it's not too cold last night.
Yesterday I went to Chloe's daycare to take pictures for them. Ended up I became an assistance teacher to help take care of the kids. I don't think Chloe's school is bad, but I realize that the teachers need to look after so many kids, they just don't pay much attention at details. Eg.They were giving out candies that have gum balls in it; a kid was crying at the corner and teacher didn't go look until 15 mins later; kids were sweating and still in thick jackets..Anyway I had a great time at her school since the kids love me and sat on my lab and ran to give me hugs. Very sweet. May be not too late to change career.

I am still struggling of which preschool ryan should go.. I 've recently known a girl who teaches in a popular preschool in flushing .. she mentioned that there're lots of hygiene problems in preschools and she wouldnt wanna put her kids for full day/ full time.. or bring our own juice to school.. she mentioned lots of other stuff too but i dont wanna mention it here to scare other moms.. anyway.. I was gonna ask you what you think of peekaboo .. does chloe like it??
I agree w you that there're not many good schools in our neighborhood.. hv you thought of PS58? my neighbor say it's a pretty gd PS in our area..

I was in esl classes too.. for the first 3 yrs when i came til 10th grade. I don't really remember if the test was hard back then.. but both of my nephews who were born here had to go to the esl class too til they're 2nd or 3rd grade. They both don't really speak that much chinese now..

I haven't done much research on elementry schools yet as I am hoping to move soon. My neighbor's kids go to St.Adabert and she recommended it. It's right off Grand. I like that school too since it's my church and people are nice. http://schools.privateschoolsreport.com/NewYork/Elmhurst/StAdalbertElementarySchool.html. My niece went to the one on Van Horn/56th Ave and her mom not like it. She now is gr 7 and goes to the one next to GreatWall super market.
In general I like Peekaboo. Chloe has great fun there. There's a huge backyard and a playground. Those hygiene thing etc it's really unavoidable. Call me if you think about letting Ryan goes there. But I may consider changing school next year to St.Adabert pre-K. Since for grade 1, 1/3 space is reserve for kids from their own K.

Thanks for the info regarding ESL. Well, I guess I have to introduce more English to Sai Sai la. I thought they can pick up easily once they start school. It seems to me the education system here is more complicated than I thought.

Thanks for inviting us for the halloween event. We had a great time. Not only for Sai Sai but for me too. The sleepover makes me feel like going back to old school time. I feel much younger hehe.
