I just found out the 2 "1000 words/dictionary" books that I bought ($25@), I have the same books at home, but in larger size (A4 size) which I bought from "The Crown" 1 year ago. I found them look familiar at the bookshop, but the cover design was different, only all the pages inside are the same...

:-( :-( :-( :-( Maybe use them as party's gifts, what do you think?

I failed in teaching AliBB chinese, so, really not much expr to share... For chinese books, I think your stock of $3 books should be enough, right? I also have some flash cards/picture cards in Chinese, but I haven't used them yet.

I like the $60-80 children dictionaries which you could find in the normal bookstores, they have both pictures, chinese and english, one word per page. I'd highly recommend you to buy one of those books for teaching chinese. I remember one publisher has the chinese stroke details as well. Or, if you like, you can come to my place to do a window-shopping. Actually, my friends like to go to my place to check out the books first, then, they mark down those they like and I will order for them so as to get the discount from the bookstores I usually go. Once the bookstores have stock, they will call my friends to pick up.

For Math, I bought a box set of Math tools that most Kinders use. It includes the abacus, the weight and the weigh measurement tools, interesting story books about Math, etc. I haven't started using it, will use it in next step. Abacus is a good tool for teaching additions, this is highly recommended for Math home teaching. I am studying Montessori now, and there are lots of Montessori materials that help kids to develop their common senses in dimension, Math, concept, these are all basic skills that could assist them in learning more complex concepts. I remember I have the catalog for all the Montessori teaching materials and tools, let me find find it...

For Books for K1, you can go to 天利行 for window-shopping, there is a branch in MOS, I go from time to time to see what are the new books coming from the publishers. As AliBB will start N1 in Aug, I checked the kinder and they will use Jolly Phonics, so, I bought a book from Nurse Asso. about JP for her to start with. Maybe you could check with your kinder to understand what sort of books/scheme/phonics they will use, then, you know what to look for.

BTW, for sesame 小樹苗, I have its complete book catalog, if you like, you can copy it, and I think you can order via mail/phone once you have the exact product number/names. I don't remember how I got the discount card...

Something like I bought a few of their books, then, they gave me the form to fill in...

yes, I've 12 books of $3 picture books and Joshua has finished them all already (including the one for counting)... that's why I want to teach him something abit more in maths.

Same as Laputa, I've brought the JP already and Joshua likes it too especially the finger phonics books since I am not at home in daytime and so I can only accompany him to watch the DVD at night. JP is quite good (thanks Laputa...), as my friend in UK also recommends this to me as she said her kid also study JP in his infant school and interestingly, all the kids learn phonics very quickly. I guess maybe Joshua has already familar with all the alphabets and so he hasn't got much difficulty in identifying the sounds of the first three books (the last four books are for long vowels like ee, or, ao, ie...) ... I'll stick to use it since his N1 school won't specify any particular phonics system to teach the kids. (Note: If you are going to buy JP, in addition to NA, A&

bookshop is also a good choice for you as it offers a 'lesser' price (around 10% less) than Swindon/HK Book Centre)

Abacus method is good in teaching maths. Where did you buy the set? I'm interested in it too... (u know I'll have many kids at home very soon)... how much is it?

for chinese books... I'm looking for those from 小樹苗, if you have a catalog, can u fax it to me? or can I download from the website of 小樹苗???

I think these 2 books are really great, no objection to use it as party's gifts. If it's me who get it, I think I'll use it as a gift for Jun's cousin.

I'm very interested in the Montessori teaching materials and tools catalog.
I've once an impulse to buy that set of Korean made Montessori english learning material, the one with the 太空宝宝sound machine, just because of its teaching guide!

btw, where can I buy those $3 books ? Are they the one like big pictures/big wording in 1 page published in China?

For Montessori 太空宝宝, I think if you know the concept of Montessori, you don't need to buy the $2x000-3x000 set. You can use daily life materials to teach the same thing.

For the $3 books, I bought from Idea in Mong kok.

小樹苗. I think if you want to own the 小樹苗 catalog, you can call and ask them to mail to you. Or, do you want me to fax to you? If so, please pm fax number to me.

For K1 books, why hurry to buy them? I usually do not recommend mums to buy school books as this will be waste of money if the school decides to use another publishers or the publishers publish new issue/version. I think we should buy those "supplementary" materials and leave the school books suggested by the kinder you attend.... So, do you mean "K1" level supplementary books when you said "K1 books" and not the school text books????

(Academic and Professional Bookshop) is situated at Austin Road, opposite to the primary school (forget the name)... it is also close to the Jordan MTR (Four seas building exit), you can chase the location from Google... CWB also has a branch but I do go to the Austin Road one as I + my sister are their 好耐既客仔 already
