When you are talking about Abacus method, are you talking about buying a abacus to teach Joshua math? Me too. I have set my eye on an abacus in Toyrus. I have also bought some books at 天地 which combine nursey rythm with math concepts but it's still too soon to show my girl yet as she is only able to count from 1 to 15.

I heard that Mathstart is also a very good math series. Have you heard about it b4? Any recommendation from your UK friend?

I just bought an Abacus from Toysrus, maybe the same one as you mentioned. It is a Giraffe with 100 beads.

For phonics, AliBB is using Oxford's phonics set. So far so good, she could pronounce all the words I taught her, her English vocab has increased to about 500-700 words I think, and she is speaking complete sentence already. As her kinder is going to use JP, so, I won't introduce another one like Letterland to her lar....

AliBB's grandpa was a school master in China Mainland years ago, so, he also said he will teach AliBB chinese.... but as far as I observe, seem like "school master" only knows how to "think" and "ask other people to do" instead of the actual teaching...

For chinese books, I also made a small chinese books corner at home, you can come to check check.

For Library, OK lar, I don't expect the books could be clean and tidy as ours. But, I do like to window-shop in Library and buy those that I like such that I could own them.

Well, actually I'm still 'chasing around' which math set is good for younger kids... but as my tummy gets larger and larger, I can't go out for window shopping ... just surf the web and search ja... Abacus is good, is it available in Toy'rus... ? how abt books in 天地? what are these? Joshua can count from 1-10 and everyday he must find something to count...

(coz all my maths books for him are counting from 1 - 10 only... so I haven't started 11 -20)... so I think if I buy a set for him, he must be happy with it lor...

Mathstart? I haven't got info of that wor... what is it about?

My UK friend only recommends me JP as their infant school is 'playschool'... let me check with her later...

BTW, any chinese books recommend?

your library (MOS library) is much much newer than the one close to me and Kam mo b ga... (Shatin Central Library)... so you find the books there much better in quality lor...
