No need to warry about kids learning skill, because they learn everything. Even something you don't thing they will learn, they still will learn it some where.

I think I saw some newcomers like me posted messages on the Part I club instead coz the listing of 'others mommies club' has a link to Part I rather than Part III of this club.
My daugther is mixed and now she is 4 years old. I am struggling to teach her chinese as my husband speak english only. I currently live in Canada and have sent her to chinese class on weekend. She seems very interested to go. For that class, each week they have to read a poem and if she can rememeber next week, she can get a stamp. So far 8 classes past, she rememebered all 8 poems.
I try to speak more chinese to her but it is so hard to switch back to chinese channel as she will response in english anyway.

My little girl is now 26 months old and she's almost the same as yours. Doesn't matter how much chinese I speak to her. She still answers in English. Of course with Daddy and the maid only speaking English did not help.
We are abit lucky because we can choose the TV channel to Cantonese easily for her to watch.
About two month ago I started to enforce my maid to make sure only Cantonese Disney Playhouse can be watch during the day. She seems to be better now.

Your daughter still very young to tell you to change the channel. My daughter is older and she knows exactly what channel to watch. We have to fight with her to watch our news.
Today she told me that her best friend in daycare is David and he is like her as both speak "chinese". I was very surprised that she thought she speak chinese!! David is really a chinese boy as both of his parent speak only mandarin to him. I think it is a good sign and now she can write the chinese number from 1-10.
