SY_Mom,
My parents live in Chinatown and I used to go there everyday before I married. Now, I still always go there to eat and shop.
AKW,
My mom is helping me to take care of my 1.5 years old son in daytime and I concentrate on taking care my daughter. With her along, I can take plenty of sleep and do less housework. But, we have not decide what to do after I go back to work early next year. I wonder if she can take care of 2 kids. She has no problem to handle newborn or toddler but never have once handled 1 each before (except when I and my brothers and sister were still babies
). So, if your hubby and his family like Shanghaiese food, you can also try the restaurant called "Bao Kao Tim" in Richmond area of SF. The street should be Balboa and the cross street should be 2X Avenue (forget the exact location but you won't miss it if you drive on Balboa Street). The siu loung bao is really good and not expensive. Other stuff include man tau (steamed or fried) with sweet milk, Shanghaiese roasted pork, "3 cups" chicken. The place is average in outlook and decoration but the food is worthy for the price (not expensive though). Another choice is Golden Chopstick Restaurant, also on Balboa and the 18th Avenue. It's very small, only 2 big tables and several small tables. You need to reserve or go there early in dinner time. The food is good but a bit pricy. Their "3 cup" chicken, salt and pepper pumpkins, stir-fried rice noodles and some of the small plates and noodles with soup are really good. Hope all of you have a good time in SF.
