Yeah! Good for Joshua. I think it's very good to start the potty training when the baby is still little. Corey started the potty training while he was 3 months old. Now, he can poop in his potty for most of the time.

Can't believe that I go back to workforce for almost 5 months la.. Everything settled
Amanda goes to her second Daycare, and she is doing well.. ^o^ Glad that I don't have Heart attack this time.. experience of this daycare is pretty good.

Bad for Amanda, after she has the flu shot 1st dose, she was pretty sick..

Please please relax.. sometime, not just because we bring kid out and they got sickness, In general, 0-1 yr old will have about 3 times flu or cold, and 1-2 yr will have 3-6 times flu or cold.. (from reseach), for those.. are virus, which is not easy to prevent, because we can't lock up our child at home.. it is not healthy for them either.
Please give Corey a lovely warm kiss and wish him well soon.

Thanks for the pics of Amanda. Wow! she does look like a little princess!

Is this the first time that Amanda receive a flu shot? did she just hv the flu shot? not quite sure what u meant she's pretty sick after having had her first dose of flu shot ... u meant her reaction to the flu shot? If so, it should go away soon. some kids hv reaction to the flu shots, and some don't. Sean didn't hv any reactions to the flu shots last year and this year. Last year, the nurse told us to give him some Tylenol if he had fever after the shot. This year, she even didn't mention it, coz she said the FluZone this year is pretty good and no one has ever complained abt it.

Btw, Sean still got colds after he had the flu shots coz it won't help preventing colds. He got cold again after the last one has stopped just for a little while. When I picked him up from school today, I can see almost all the kids got runny nose. Hopefully he won't get flu before the flu shot got effective in another 10 days, coz it takes 2 weeks for the shot to be effective.

Thanks for yr encouragement for me to apply the job. I'll go ahead and submit my resume if the position is still available. Hopefully I can find out more details abt the job and see if it's a good fit for me. Frankly, mentally I still seem not ready for going back to work. especially after i've stopped working for more than 2 yrs, i feel like i'm kinda out-dated as technologies change so quick (not like other jobs). Initially i was kinda shocked (and felt "don't bother me please") when someone called and asked if i'm interested to work for ....

When i tried to look into the projects that i've done for my previous job, i was like "wow ... how did i do it?!"
After being a stay-home mom for 2 1/2 yrs, I felt like I've been pretty absent-minded except for my baby. In case i'm back to work, i'm not sure how can i handle it with my family and my new job at the same time.

U're so lucky to hv yr parents around to help u taking care of Corey, so that u can concentrate on yr job during weekdays.
For Corey's case, I just recalled that my ex-coworker mentioned that his son used to get sick pretty often when he brought him home from the nanny during weekends. Then, he realized that the temperature of the nanny's house was much warmer than his home, and his son might not be able to adjust it and got sick. so, this might be one thing u might wanna pay attention to.

Don't worry abt Alex's talking yet. As both yr hubby and u speak in different languages to him, he might start talking a little late. however, as he starts to talk more, he'll be able to speak in both languages fluently. that's what i've heard from my other friends.

Dear All,

How are you all doing? I am not that good recently. Joshua has a bad cold for almost a week. He has a runny nose and the doctor has prescribed him couple drugs but doesn’t help much. The drugs supposed to be drowsy but it won’t work for Joshua. As we are going back to HK this Saturday, I really wish he is fully recovered before we get on the plane.

I am flying to HK this weekend. We haven’t come back for a while and I am really excited about it. My sisters haven’t met Joshua yet and I am happy to let them look after Joshua and take a little break myself. However, I am a bit worried what will happen on the plane. How are u all? Long time no chat here as we all know BK is slow. Also Karina cries quite a lot, so busy in soothing her! Now as she will turn 3 months soon, she seems better in coping with this world. Hope things will get better and better. However, I need to go back to work soon..... I will definitely thinking about her a lot in my office.... :-(

Miss u and Alex too! Hearing your dissertation story is so sad --- I am in a similar boat: I applied for my US cert as a clinical audiologist for more than one year la, but there is no definite result yet. Don't know if I can finally get it or not.... :-(

Can u share more on your experience on Alex's child care? Karina will go to one next March when she is 5.5 months, and we are doing research now.

Hello All,

Same as a lot of other moms, it's too slow to load even just one page here. As Carina is growing and growing and now she's 5 months old, she sleeps less during daytime, that means I have less time for myself...

Anyway, I'm going back to HK for vacation in the middle of this month and will be back in the middle of Feb. I'm very excited about the trip! Carina will be able see a lot of her uncles and aunts, and her grandfather (my dad).

Dorisbee, what are you going to bring for your son on the plane?

For going back, my husband will be with us. But for the returning trip, I will be by myself with Carina. That will be a big challenge for me. By then, she will be 7 months old. I hope I will be fine, or the worst case is not able to sleep for the whole trip on the plane!!!!

I can't believe Carina is 5 months old now. Just heard another Karina here is turning 3 months old, I think time really flies. I still remember when I first heard that another baby girl would have the same name as Carina, not exactly the same, but pronounce the same, that seems like it's not too long ago.

Anyway, I need some advice on preparing for the trip. Please let me know what do I need to pay attention and what stuffs to bring on the plane. Also, what do I need to pay attention when I'm in HK?

Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks!

FYI - DMV's web site:

if u didn't renew it by mail last time and u didn't hv bad traffic records, it should be ok for u to renew it by mail or over the internet. however, next time you would need to go to DMV in person to renew it.

What to bring on the flight? I think these're most important things: diapers and wipes, formula (if not breastfeeding), enough clothes for changing (especially a thick one that's warm enough), yr bb's security attachement such as security blankie and pacifier, Tylenol just in case for sudden fever, and maybe a couple of her small favorite toys.

don't worry ... i think most likely Karina will be fine at the day care. actually i think around 6 month old might be a good time to start going to day care. most of my friends' kids are very mature and behave well since they went to day care when they were as young as couple months old. also, they hv stronger immunity system.
in case i hv another baby by accident, i might send her to the day care when she's abt 4 to 6 months old.

I think you are totally right. My house’s temperature is a lot higher than my parents house. Since I live in a co-op, I can’t control the room temperature but keep opening the humidifier, windows and cover the heat by some blankets.

Now, I have to move Corey’s crib away from the heat so he has a better sleep at night. Hope it helps. Thank you for the advise. :lol:

Who will take care of Karina when u back to work? Since I’m a working mom too, I bring in lots of Corey’s pictures to the office. I make sure my bookshelf, desk and my computer have his pictures. Hehe!

The cruise was great. My hubby and I napped with natalie everyday for 2 hrs, then of course just eat eat eat la

Don't forget I still have Babygigi's gift for you. Let me know when you are in the area. I think for childcare, since Karina is still a baby, you can look into the once that are home based. The environment is more baby friendly and similar to being at home
