A lot of men doesn't like the idea of having another people in the house. They usually think that it is inconvence, as they can't do whatever they want (like wearing boxers at home). But after they try it, they see the beauty of it, and will be willing to adapt.
Koko, for your mom's hand, I think it must hurt a lot. When Jacob was born, my hands also hurt a lot because I am not used to carrying him. For your mom, you may have 50"堅" which is very common for women of our mom's age, and I think she really need to go to the doctors.
If your husband really doesn't want a maid, will you consider hiring a maid for your mom to help her out. it will be easier for her, and you don't need to have another person in the house.
