Hi Everyone,

I'm from Malaysia too. Will move to Hong Kong with my husband in September 09. My baby is about 3 mths old when we arriving Hong Kong. We are actually living in Australia now and she is born in Australia too. Just a bit worry that I never live in Hong Kong before and do not have any friend in Hong Kong. Therefore, could anyone help me about my queries? My baby has took the 2 months immunisation in Australia. Therefore, she has to take the 4th months in Hong Kong. I wonder can she take the needle in any clinic? I still haven't apply the visa to live in Hong Kong yet. Is it hard to apply after i move to hong kong with my husband? My husband is Hong Kong citizen. I wonder is there anything that i have to do? Thank you.

Hi Elaine!

Welcome to HK. As a Malaysian married to HK guy, it is very easy to get a residential visa, with limited terms varies from 1 year to 3 years (depends on expiry date of our Msian passport).

Regarding baby vaccination sceme, you need to bring along your baby vaccination card / records when u registered with Govtn clinic (健康院) or private clinic. Of course Govtn clinic is free of charge if your baby has HK ID (should not be a problem if his/her father is HK permanent resident).

Adaptation to HK is not a problem too if u read and speak Chinese / Cantonese.

Thanks for your advice. Can my baby get HK ID? Her dad is HK citizen as well as Australia citizen. Some peoples said if is a bit hard for my daughter to get HK ID as she is not born in HK. I have to try to help her apply HK Residency after back to HK. How long have you live in HK by now? Which part of Malaysia you from? I'm from Miri, Sarawak.

Well! it's not true. with a HK PR father, baby can definately get an HKID (but not PR). You need to file an application thru immigration dept and you sould be able to get it within 3 months.

I am here since 1997. Was originally fm JB (w. Msia).

What makes ur family change ur mind to shift here? Just out of curious....

My husband family have a business in Hong Kong. They are asking him to go back Hong Kong to help the business. That is why we have to move back. I met my husband while we were study in Australia. After graduated then we decide to get the citizenship here and get some work experience. Now, his family request him to go back, so we decide to move back.

I'm a HK mun, but married to a Malaysian.

FYI, if your husband is HK PR, your kid will definately have HK PR stautus. What you have to do is ask your husband goes to Wanchai immigration tower to apply only. My son is born in Malaysia, but we all move back to HK when he was 1 yr old. I applied for my son, now he is already HK PR. HK government accept multi nationality, so don't worry!

I just notice BK have this areas for all the Malaysian Mum. I came from Kuala LUmpur and stayed HK around 9 years. My life is only working and family and I cannot meet any friend. It was great that I found this website and can make friend with all the Malaysian Mum.

Quite relaxing this time. we arrived at KL, stop for 2 days, then 3 days to Genting Highlands, then back home to JB (my hb and 99 brought kids to Spore zoo day after). i would say the highlight of this trip would be seeing fire flies at Kota Tinggi. So lousy me live up my life and never knows fire flies sight seeing trip at Kota Tinggi (another famous spot is Kuala Selangor).

nearly all my family went and we all see fire flies. very excited at that moment. looks like chistmas tree with blinking lights. amazing!!! and really cheap too. only RM$20 per head and my children free of charge (after bargain). super happy!!!
