i went for lunch with my mom and her friend (Mrs. A)yesterday - they met accidentally in canada yesterday; and they talked about the times when they were in beijing 20+ yrs ago. (my mom was the admin. mgr, worked in hotel as the first group of people in the hotel industry, at the time when beijing started to open). mrs. A is the wife of the chief chinese chef.
the hotel had a quarter for hk staff (married staff and with relatives stayed in beijing together) very close to work. One night, Mrs. A saw from her balcony that Mrs. B was climbing out from next door's balcony. Mrs. A screamed and yelled to Mrs. B, No No, but Mrs. B seemed like cannot hear her. So Mrs. A ran out to tell her husband. Mr. A with friends ran to Mrs. B apartment and pushed the door open. After the door open by force, they saw Mrs. B jumped down (5th floor, which is the same as 8th floor in hk). Mrs. B was 9 months pregant. Mr. B came out from bedroom after hearing the noise. he was sleeping at that time. of course, mrs. b and the baby had died. some days later, at the time of funeral, it rained very heavily. 20 yrs ago, it rarely rained in beijing. after the funeral, it stopped. some weeks later, mr b called for "ask rice", mrs. b told him that she did not want to die, but there a female ghost, asking her to do so. mr. b quitted and went back to hk in sorrow.
several months later, mrs. c dreamed of a woman, asking her to bring her and her baby back to hk in the two little coffins. mrs. c did not know mrs. b. (mrs. c stayed in hk, and went to visit mr. c and went to tour in china, they went to Lau Chow, bought two little coffins - meaning "sing kwun fat choy".) she dreamed of the woman for several nights. then, she asked the woman one day, why you choose us, i don't know you, the woman told her to ask her husband, he knows her. mr. c immediately think of mrs. b, but really don't want to do so. the next day, he pumped himself in the glass door of the chinese restaurant, lose the lower half of his two front teeth, but without bleeding at all. one of the old staff told mr. c, he was "black". so mr. c told the staff about mrs. b, the staff asked him to do as told, otherwise, he will lose more thing than just the two teeth. so mr. c and mrs c. agree to bring mrs. b and her baby to mr. b in the two little coffins. they had to called mrs. b's name whenever going up/down areoplane, train, car, immigration etc. after the mission, mrs. c dreamed of mrs. b saying thanks.
