ATV dangerous or not, depends which site / organizer (not agent). For instance, there's one at Pa Khlok, Chalong, Kathu, ... What you need to do is check with your agent which site will it be.
My kid (11-yrs-old) and I joined the one at Pa Khlok and it isn't dangerous at all and perfectly safe for a 10-yrs-old to drive by him/herself. I didn't join the one at Chalong but what I saw is that from time to time, you have to drive on pave road, i.e. road that's share with other vehicles.
