There are some areas you need to be very careful : 1. When you apply for the verification you have to choose HK as your permenent residency(把 香 港 作 為 永 久 居 住 地). Since we are now living in USA, so how to prove you still living in HK is a trick.
In my case, I have proof to show that when my daughter was born I am not a US citizen and greencard holder, I was travelling in US for business. I have proof that I still have business in HK (in fact it's dormant but I still paying the commercial licence fee and the certificate prove I have business in HK). It's a strong proof for proving I am still treat HK as my 永 久 居 住 地.
Although I only go back to HK several weeks a year, last year I even not going back.
2. How long you stay in HK is not a problem as long as you can prove HK is your 永 久 居 住 地. For example, If you still own your house and paying property tax in HK then you have proof you treat HK as your permenent residency.
3.If you cannot prove HK is your 永 久 居 住 地. You can still apply the HKID for your kid but your kid has to stay 7 years in HK. My daughter do not need to stay 7 years as she already proved she has 領 取 永 久 性 居 民 身 份 證 的 資 格, but since she is a child, so like other HK children she has to wait till she is 11 years to get the HKID.

Clarabb and little fatty,
After my first delivery,my mom came over to take care of me buit when my second my mom didn't come cus she had to do her operation luckily I have lsome good frds tooks turns came over to my house to take care of me and mad me soup. Little fatty, remeber to drink more " hung joe water" instead of water after delivery cheap and really helps. I washed my hair the third day after my delivery use lots of "wholeginger"not "ginger skin" though.

BTW, from my home to Washington hospital at Mowry Ave is about 15 minutes walk, 3-4 minutes' drive.

Did you also go to shop at Marina at Leido Fair shopping centre and do you know there is a new Lion suppermarket opposite of the Newpark mall ? These 2 suppermarkets also carry lots of Chinese stuff include snakes...
, maybe you have to be born and live in there to have that 氣 質 ? The only 遺 傳 we have got is " 有 D 肥 "hehehehe
