Yeah ya. I studied at the HKU 校外進修部 for two years. The instructors were very good. It is a shame that they only did Beginners & Intermediate levels at that time so I couldn't continue. Don't know why but I like European languages more and I did French & German be4. I wanted to speak Spanish 'cos I wanted to travel in South America...
We now speak more Spanish at home because of Carlos.
Leicester is not very big and full of Asians...but I guess it is quite convenient as it is in the middle of England. It has all the high street shops and the M&S near us is not small at all! The mall in town has just been expanded and opened in Sep ~ friends said it is quite nice but I still haven't been...
For my job, I do Mon & Thurs evenings and Tues, Wed & Fri mornings till mid-afternoon. I choose to work flexible time so that I can start at 8 & finish at 2ish, I can then have time to take care of Carlos ~ very tiring but I guess for now it's the best solution. Can't really afford not to work at the moment...
Carlos is very grumpy this afternoon 'cos he didn't have his nap after the bath & the feed...so I watched the 'Weakest Link' with him (funny that he always likes it ~ probably because of the sound and the light) and he was a bit more settled. Then, I did the pumpkin mash. The pumpkin was very difficult to cut open ah and it was full of strings inside (do you know why?) and very hard and I wasn't sure if it is going to soften up with the cooking. Anyway, I thought I might just as well boil it and see how it goes... In the end, it was ok ~ I mashed it up and cooked it a bit longer with a bit of milk and luckily Carlos finished a bowl with some congee
When I was little, I always wanted to find a job in the tourist trade so that I can get to travel for free...never get around to do it and now...don't even think about it anymore!

hi ya...今日真係一頭煙...而家先可以抖啖氣...
connie:
why 一頭煙 today??
so u cooked congee with pumpkins for ur son today? have u tried the butternut squash, is similar with pumpkins as well if u found pumpkins is too difficult to cut and cook!! or find some small pumpkins to cook!!
because Carlos didn't take his afternoon nap lor...he got grumpy and I couldn't do anything except holding him... So I put him to bed at 8-ish (but now...as he likes to stand up all the time, I have to lay down with him in my bed and hold him until he sleeps...anything else I can try???
Is buttersquash sweeter than pumpkin? Do I have to wait for it to ripe before cooking it? I've not tried it but I heard many mums say it is nice...

Child benefit is 牛奶金 (£18 per wk).
This is what I found in a little booklet re tax credits:
"Child tax credit: Generally, families with income of up to £58K (or £66K if there is at least one child under 1 year old) are eligible. The max CTC child element is over £32 a week for each child....There are no work conditions.
Woking tax credit. For people on low to middle incomes that can include help with childcare costs..."
And I think when we filled out the Tax Credit form, they need to know how many hours each parents work, how much we earn, etc...
