Hello everyone!!!

I seem like appeared at the dim sum gathering all the sudden and disappeared afterwards

.....

Let me introduce myself again. I'm CarinaMommy and Carina is 27 months old now. She's my only daughter and we live in the east side of San Jose. I live in the SJ area for more than 15 years now and married for 11 years.

I used to have depression after giving birth, but things get better after I have started to take medicine when she's 1.5 years old. I used to go to another forum to talk with other moms for help (and that's why I knew SY_Mom and she asked me out to the gathering). But then the connection was so bad with BK that it made me so frustrated to go to the site.............

Anyway, Carina is now going to the daycare full time (actually after the dim sum gathering), so I'm busy to look for a job so as to open up myself to the world.

I really enjoy the last gathering and hopfully the next one won't take too long. And also, hopfully my husband can join so that I will have some free time to talk with you all

AKW,
When I go back to work, my son should be still younger than 2 years old, not ready for pre-school but maybe some kind of daycare. However, I have to start potty train him first. I tried yesterday to put him on the potty trainer and he kept getting up and wanted to play with it.

Need to start some days later. He's so active, tries to touch, climb up everything. Once we forget to close the restroom door, he will pull all the toilet paper out and play with water in the toilet bowl. But, he enjoys throwing gargage into the gargage can or bag. I started to take him to the park and play swing, slide or practise walking up and down the staircases. He keeps on picking up leaves and sand on the floor instead.

I and my hubby have hardly any sleep at night now, either my son cries at night and wants to sleep with us or my daughter wakes up for feeding (she can wake up every half hour and fall sleep after having little bit of milk). So, now both me and hubby are "panda".

so glad to see u at BK again! also, so happy to see u and Carina at our last gathering. last time when i met Carina, she's only abt 1 to 2 months old. now she's already 2. time flies!
by the way, i really like her. she's so adorable. hope i can meet with u and Carina again in our next gathering.

i'm completely with u ... coz similar things happened to us when our boy was younger. and now he still wakes up almost every night, either becoz of his itchy eczema, need to go pee-pee, or looking for his dad. that's why we don't think we have energy, time and patience for another kid.

Hope to see you in the next gathering! How's work? It's totally not a good market now. A house nearby our house took more 3 months to be sold.

Nice to see you again too. You're right, she's adorable

She just uses her smiley face as a weapon. But of course, it's better than those kids who always cry or something. Parents and kids at the daycare like her so much too as she's always smiling.

Does your son sleep in his own room? How many times does he wake up during the night? Does he wake up because his little sister cries? I really can't imagine how you handle one toddler and one baby!! Please rest more during the day when your daughter is asleep

Income needed to buy a median-priced home in Santa Clara county is $143454 in 2006... wooo... I don't know when can I afford to buy a decent single family home in good school district... probably not in the bay area (or not in the near future).

Btw, did you guys feel the earthquake last night? My family live in Milpitas and I felt like I was in a train when it happened. The house was shaking sideways mildly for about 10-15 secs. I bet stores will be jam-packed over the weekend with ppl trying to get emergency supplies, myself included. :-|

Hello, I live in Union City and I felt the earthquake last night too. It was 5.6 magnitude near Alum Rock. I brought my two kids to hide under the dinner table. I had to explain to my 4-year-old boy what happened and what to do next time if it happens again.

Maybe I was too concentrated on breastfeeding my baby girl, I heard the noise of window frames shaking but did not feel it at all. After that, my hubby came out from another room and told me that it's an earthquake. Spencer followed his daddy and seemed not know anything.

Yeah, I felt it. I lived in Mtn View (abt 18 miles from the epicenter). I was washing the dishes in the kitchen. I heard some noise and the floor was shaking. I picked up my son, handed him to my mom, and asked them to go outside. I followed them outside after I grabbed my backpack (with water, formula, jackets, flashlight, power bars inside). We waited outside for a while and nothing more happened. Some of the neighbors also went outside. Their dogs were barking at the time. We later just went back the house and I googled that it was a 5.6 scale earthquake an Alum Rock and one of the local TV channel has the news for hours about the quake.

yes, we defintely felt it too, as most ppl in the south bay did.

i was doing laundry down in the garage. all of a sudden i felt like a big train was running above and shaking. i thought it was an earthquake so i went upstairs immediately. my 99 was holding my son sitting at the dinning table and prepared to run away. my husband was up in the bedroom and felt it most seriously that he couldn't even stand still.

it was the 3rd earthquake but the most serious one since i moved to the bay area. it's also the most serious one since the big one back in 1989.
it's also the 1st earthequake that my son experienced. he asked why there's an earthquake.

after that, my husband still kept working at his laptop upstairs. i told him to go down and stay in the sitting room but he didn't care. our son almost cried and begged his dad to go downstairs, coz he knew it's not safe and afraid that his dad wouldn't get away in time if there's aftershock.

before i turned on the TV and the radio, i thought the epicenter were san francisco. so our son worried abt his grand-aunt over there and requested to call her. then we found out it's near Alum Rock, San Jose where we hv friends live there. our son asked if his friend's doing ok over there. so i gave them a call and they're fine.

there's still an aftershock at around 4pm this afternoon but fortunately it's not as serious as the one last night. hopefully there's no more aftershocks..

You know what, we are living in Alum Rock area...... When it was happened, Carina was taking a bath. I heard that young kids actually don't know what's earthquake, so it must be my reaction made her scared. Then, I pick her up and my husband came to hug us, and then that's it. Then we checked the whole house and only found a few things fell down. The 2 girls of our neighbor scared to death that they didn't want to go back into the house afterward.

The one from yesterday was too quick for me to react. Hopefully, there's no more.

Did you guys went to trick or treating with your kids last night? I took my 3 month old Matthew to "trick or treat". even he got no idea what's going on, I just want to let him experience his 1st halloween ... and I can have all his candies :lol

Earthquake

We live in North San Jose, surely we felt the earthquake and it was scary to all of us. I was cooking & chatting w/ my husband while he's holding our 8mth old baby girl. The apt started to shake and our dog barked like crazy & wanted to escape. Lucky that nothing's damaged and this has made our first expereice of earthquake.
