I really like the girl names la...
For some reason I think only people in HK like to pick very special names for their babies.. in the US, names like John, Joseph, Jacob, ... (bible related names) are quite common.
There is also a trend to use Japanese names. I have met people whose name are Ichiro, Yumiko, etc. and they are Americans.
pepsii: if you are torn between 2 names, you can probably post it on babycenter.com and let people vote on it!

I pick Hayden because my husband's middle name starts with a H (it is #146 popular in the US)
and you can check out the top 100 most popular baby names in the Social Security Administration's website at www.ssa.gov

fat bean is in USA with my mother and sisters.
They already complainted her la.
she abuses them

I have a big question regarding the US Military.
美國是否所有男子在十八歲到二十六歲, 都一定要服兵役架. 咁, 如果我第日移民到美國(大約十一年後), 個仔(現在六個月大), 他到了那個年齡實要當兵囉

是否在美國出生的男子就可以不當兵呀?

" 十八歲生日前一個月,居住在美國境內的男子,都必須作美國的徵兵登記[SELECTIVE SERVICE],如果沒有在廿六歲之前作補行登記的話,依法會受到刑事處份, 罰款,或者以後不能擔任聯邦等公職,領取大專院校聯邦獎助金等,對外國籍的人士而言,入籍就有了問題.
外籍人士例如美國永久居民,如果美國在戰時恢復徵兵制,但是為了逃避兵役而跑到外國,則永遠不能取得美國公民權,更糟糕的是,移民法上規定不得入美國籍者則不得入境,所以外籍逃兵連回美國都不行了.美國的合法外籍移民,可以引用原始法律上規定只有公民能當兵的規定,以免除兵役,但是如此作的話,當事人永遠拿不到美國公民權了,除了美國與當事人的原居國有互免兵役的規定,當事人在移民美國之前在原居國己服了了兵役. "

jaan: what the article is talking about is DRAFT. The last time the US implemented draft was during the Vietnam War (in the 1970s). Right now the US has voluntary service system. Draft is only implemented when there are not enough regular troops available.

So I will say don't worry about the potential for military service. It is not like Taiwan, where it has mandatory draft at 18 (I believe)

In fact, some immigrants sign up for the military to speed up the citizenship process.

Hope that clarifies the issue. I think the article explained the issue in a somewhat confusing way.

I think what Haydenmama explained is correct. Draft is only when the country (US) doesn't have enough army/military during a war time, I don't think you should be worry at all. For the immigrants who wants to apply for citizenship, (guys only) who are over 18 years old have to sign up for the selective service, again it is just for a back up, if the country needs to fight/defend, I think that is every citizen's duty, so no one should feel hesitate at all. For the neutral born citizens, you don't have to sign up for that cuz I think it is a must, so there is nothing much you should be worry.

wow.. how expensive is your older son summer school fees? 210USD per month 4 days a week 3 hours each day held by our community center 's perschool programme. mine sounds alot cheaper, huh? anyway my older son is going to perschool this sept.

About potty training! it is not easy. reseach said potty train start early could make the progress longer or takes a year to trained. the time they suggest to start potty train is 2 1/2 year old during summer time.
l use old fashion way to train my older son, l don't let him wear any diaper or training pant so he will really wet his pant when he decided not pee on the potty. he is smart he wet himself once then he start to pee on the potty! Try to sit them down 30 mins after his meal, and also sit them down every 30-60 mins on the potty, so that they got plenty of chnace to pee and get the idea how to go potty. first start they won't pee.... so you just need to take them to potty frequently hopefullyyou can catch that and start mintor them every30 mins. trust me they do need to pee every 30 mins at first!

Today I watched the channel 18 ( Japanese ads ), when I listen Japan language, I feel comfortable, he... How is HK lately? I watched the HK news, the governments changed 2 people. Leung Kam Chun and Yip Lau Yuk Yi. However; Tung Kin Wah is stilling there. When do you come US? Enjoy your trip!!!
