This is the website for The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists ... click here. You will be able to search for a list of ob/gyn in each state/territory. However, I'm afraid you can't get much detailed info from here. I think you have to call the doctor to ask for their fee.

Here's also some information on maternity hospitals from a very popular website (bubhub) ... click here

My experience was:

- A$120 for the first appointment, follow up visit A$65, ultra sound A$45
- a management fee of A$2,000
- delivery fee of A$1,400
- there may be other fees for anaesthetist and surgical assistant, paediatrician
- I don't know about the fees for the hospital coz our private insurance covers everything

There is a serious shortage of ob in Brisbane because of the high premium for mal-practice insurance. A lot of the doctors just do gynaecology while some who were about to retire, chose for an early retirement. My GP had to call 5 doctors before he could find an ob for me. Unfortunately, things didn't work out quite well with the doctor (she handled our ammnio test really badly) and we decided to change to another doctor .... too late, no doctor would accept me coz they were already fully booked for the period of my due date. They wouldn't even accept me on their waiting list coz it was already long enough.

We finally decided to go public and we were both very happy with their services.

My worry for you is that unless you come and stay in Australia early enough and I mean really early (at 17 weeks pregnant, I couldn't find another doctor to take me in), you might have problem with the doctors.
