Do nurses in HK, pay union due??
What does the Nurse Union do for you guys?
Do you have any contact with Nurse Union??
It is illegal to have the nurse take more than 10 cases in 1 shift (especially in US, because we do 12.5 hours shift, it is quite dangerous if nurse has workload is high).
As IC, we took more than that because, you just want to smooth the ER dept and don't wanna start any fight, on the other hand, we don't want to add patients to our nurse. End up, we took it on our own.
I would only accept 2 stretchers on my hallway, no more than that. Once that occupied, no matter the supervisors came up. I say no to them. I don't care. If ER or supervisor force me to accept patients, I will sign the protest. with my staffs, if any incident in the ward/ unit, we will not pay for any responsibility.
Well.. that is what the nurses here in US.
I only get paid to do my assigned job as per my contact, even they pay me more, I won't accept.
At least, you have people to help out, keep going to finish the course, as once you drop off.. that will be couple times difficult for you to catch it up again.

做IC仲死,日日都唔夠床,個patient 未走就book另一個,未走果個唔肯坐出.... ...

我在OAH工作了2年多，到目前為止都覺得醫院的工作比較好做，因為OAH的護士除了
應付日常護理工作對外，要管PCW、厨房、
房間、也要負責PCW meeting，cook meeting ，monthly meeting etc，好像
管理很多東酉，好煩，將文件也帶返家做。

I am agree.. work in hospital, you don't need to bring the work back home.. which I like the most!
Now, I am working in the community..
Have to prepare all those health relate topics every months, tons of workshops scheduled for at least 6 months ahead. Train the new hire nurse, enrol new patients to home care program. Family may call you at the middle of the night, ask if you can call 999 (911 in NY) for them as family member is un-concious..... My God..
Cell phone 24 hours stand by with email and fax inside.
Boss are very clever here.. they know Chinese are 3-5 times more productive than others.
now, I am a manager, and I can't ask for over time.

我想話你知我都係係地獄工作，一個像機械人式turbo工作, 沒有護理質素可言！視病人和醫護為無物！HA高層不負責任，至醫護流失有增無減！苦了前線的醫護們.....

Dear all nurse moms,
Lunar new year is coming, I believe that you have your shift duty come. Please make a smile on your face even it doesn't look like the way you submit your holiday request.
Your husband and family should support you even your have a P at new year eve and a A at 1st day of New year.
If you can see that the shift duty get really bad and mess up.. try to explain to your IC and colleagues, and see there is any way to make every one feel better.

Nurse moms whom new to this career..
Holiday is base on your seniority.
So, try to work in the same ward/unit at the same hospital to build your seniority.

我依家都係OAH返PT，覺得自己好似個管家婆，又似個文員，返到去做做做，都唔知做左d咩咁，唔鍾意咁多paperwork啦~~
