Re: 2004年2月的準媽媽!
chantessa,
thank you for your information ah. your hubby is really very good and considerate to hire the helper well before you deliver. give him a big kiss la! :-P
duke,
i have some information about diabetes in pregnancy, hope will help you to ease some of your worries.
women are easier to have diabetes if their family members have the disease (inheritance), or at least gave birth to one overweight baby before.
i think your doctor now doubts about whether you have diabetes or not, and have to do a series of tests on you.
if, think about the worst case, you catch diabetes during pregnancy, your high blood sugar will cause some problems including ureter infection, vaginal fungal infection, high blood pressure which may lead to pre-eclampsia, 胎水too much (1 in 5 diabetic pregnant women), and may cause premature delivery.
you have to look after your daily glucose intake, to prevent too much sugar (glucose) transfer to the bb and turn into fat or muscle to make your bb overweight; and on the other hand, your bb will secrete high level of insulin (a hormone) by himself in order to balance the high level of blood sugar you pass to him. even after birth, he will continue to secrete such high amount of insulin, then, b'cos insulin will lower down the blood sugar level, your bb will become hypoglycemic. if the blood level is too low, bb will become drowsy, coma and death will happen.
nowadays with medical advancement and periodical checking, diabetic mother can also give birth to normal and healthy bb. therefore no need to worry loh.
you can also find some info on babycenter.com. don't worry too much ah.
