hi hi - just want to share with you all that i went for a trial class at kinder u today.

in short - rather disappointed!!!

1/ teacher
- she delivered the course 100%, lacked enthusiasm

2/ course
- flash card 60%
- music appreciation 20%
- singing & story telling french 20%

- i found flash card rather boring; i had problem concentrating for babies even harder
- music part was rather crap, nothing compare to MMB or Kindermusik
- foreign language part i found rather unnecessary

3/ environment
- looks like a language school, v small. full of classrooms

sorry to hear that u had the bad experience at kinderx. at first, i plan to attend the trial class too. but after your sharing, i don't think i will go there la! :)
but i'm a bit interested in the rightmind kindy.

seems south horizon is a gd place to live. right mind kinder and also international montessori school r both located there.

r the kids from rightmind really amazing in the chinese words learnt? i didn't know one studying/studied there. just heard that from the web.

i ve written to IMS asking about the school fee but the school refused to answer me but kept asking me to visit the school. anyone is interested? the next visit is 1 Nov (thurs) morning. i m still thinking if i should take a half day leave to visit that school. it's so far away from my place. if baby is going to study there, we ve to move away from grandma much earlier than our original plan....

n if the school fee is over 10K per month, i think will be a bit too expensive. (i guess it may be quite likely given the school refused to disclose the school fee and TT and kingston r already near 7k)

husband n i ve discussed about increasing the freq. of playgroup but we can't solve the logistic problem. it's almost impossible to ask the maid to take Jacob from Tsuen Wan to Kowloon Tong. I m so envy that most of Jacob's classmates in TT r living in Kowloon Tong. Thus, when they reach 1, they can join weekday class too. I always think language exposure must be freq. in order to be effective.

ah......so headache.... i may need to explore the possibility to find additional weekday class in Tsuen Wan. but i found both my husband and myself r quite demanding on the standard of the teachers. a native speaker is not enough. we prefer sb like Ms. Tracy in TT (i.e. having enough experience in handling infants in the class.)

bakusensei - share the same feeling re: playgroup. location & logistics become increasingly important factors.

the instructor is key to a playgroup. like the instructor we had at kinder u, she's a native speaker, didn't everything correctly but just not up to standard.

also so strange, cos one of the kids started playing on the monkey bars. the teacher said to the parent, "do you mind if i take a pix" for fun???!!! so unprofessional!!!

if u go to more pgs, you will feel the one that you chose was actually above market average.

hi xogogo - so you all settled in to your new home. momo used to the new surroundings yet?

the course that lucas attended this pm was called IM (intelligence multiplier). i bumped into an ex-collegue there, her son was doing a trial class for the Right mind program. but quite expensive $3XX, i think it's more than 1 hr.

i think it's worth doing a trial class, since it's so close to your home.

when will you be free to meet up ar? we can do toy library again if u r interested?

i agree that logistic is a big problem. actually my maid did bring momo out to TST- beaumont b4 (when i lived in CC). and i met them there. cuz' i think the route is safe (not many crossings and MTR is quite safe. ppl will usually give seats to my maid when she holds momo. i also choose the non-rush hours for them).

as a working mother, i hv no choice but to rely on the maid. therefore i will choose safest route for them.

We hv a new male teacher at TT. his voice is so strong that most bb or care takers are scared. :p

i can't wait to join u all to the next visit to library too. count me in! :)

momo likes the new home so much. he keeps laughing and smiling all the time. he even can recognise the door and want to press the lift buttons. he gains back the pounds and has a little tummy too. so funny.

however, i forgot to switch the internet to the new address, so i can't always online at home until the mid of oct. i'm ms forgetful la! hahahaha
i hv put momo on Mygyx (central)waiting list. cuz' i find that travel to central centre is easier than travel to Hung hom centre, where it is far away from the MTR and the minibus stop. i dunno how long do i need to wait. hopefully momo can be lucas' classmates la! :)

yes, the location and logistic are really headache, so I'm also looking for some in TW. We're now on the waiting list for the Sunday Trial class (can't remember the name), need to be waited for 1-2m, let's see whether it's ok or not.

that's great that u can find some in TW. pls share after u tried the class. i m still thinking if i should include some weekday class when baby reaches 1. but we don't prefer asking the maid to take baby to Kowloon Tong. thus, may need to find some weekday class in Tsuen Wan.

y. totally agree w/ u swongsk. logistics is a great problem.

instructor is v. important. I can't accept simply a native speaker. at least she/he should ve prior training in child education. it would be better if she/he has experience handling infants/toddlers too.

I know that Ms. Tracy won't teach toddler class in TT and we r not sure if the teacher in toddler class is as gd as her. If not, we may need to find other pg when baby reaches 1.

hope that won't happen.

a side issue. will u enrol your baby for N1?

in view of baby being quite boring at home, we r thinking of finding N1 for him. Thus, I asked my mum to submit the application form for N1 for my baby this morning to the kinder downstairs. The kinder received the form but told my mum that babies born in Dec will probably not be able to enter as when they reach 2, the kinder will most likely be full.

if can't find a suitable N1 (we prefer those near our home), the need to attend pg during weekdays may be even greater.

I was thinking about N1 for enoch, too ... but encountered similar problem as yours... most kindergarden won't accept dec born babies...

If your baby is going to N1 / playgroups during weekdays... will you let your maid take him there? I found it's hard to have 100% confidence to rely on my maid (or deep inside of my heart, I don't want to rely on her .... )

exactly the same problem!

my maid is not bad but u know, to trust her to take baby to playgroup is another issue. i found one in Tsuen Wan within walking distance and no need to cross the road. my husband suggested taking a trail class in Jan next yr. if ok, then consider letting the maid to take baby there. i m still 15, 16 on this.

btw, i remember u live in kowloon tong, right? if so, u should ve lots of choices re. pg. most of Jacob's classmates in TT are living in kowloon tong too. they said there is mini-bus from their home to the campus (the new school), thus, most will add weekday classes to their babies when they reach 1.

really?????? is it 救世軍????? which year? Jan 2009? since I want Liev to be the big boy so my plan is Sep 2009 to start the N1, is it to late to apply now????? my god, still not yet confirm to move or not wor then how can I decide which nursery?

no, TW 救世軍's queue is 2yr 9 month. i submitted the application for N1 in 08 in Feb and the school told me the chance for N1 is zero becoz by the time the baby is interviewed, he's already near the time to enter K1. they ve automatically put my application in N1 into the file for K1 instead and even told me that I don't need to submit a separate form for K1! (no idea if they would accept kids entering N1 when the kid is already 2 yr 8 months. but i suggest u'd better call the school to check this first. for sending the form, u ve to obtain the form in person from the school first as the school will charge u $10 or $20- i forgot, for the application form.)

it's simply Luk Yeung Kinder. i choose it becoz it's downstairs. nothing special. but my mum said she queued up for nearly an hr (today is the only day they accept application. n must submit in person too.)

r there too many kids in HK now?
