Sandy, I've asked AK for her mobile no...will call her then!
Well no.1 has always been free (his standard) but a local school is really not a free environment, and therefore we kind of struggle a lot balancing this. Now he will change to an IS and it will be freer so we do need to have a mental contract with him on what we really can accept and what we can't. He has had a lot of problem around homework (he didn't do his homework) so his handbook is full (of teachers reminders and follow ups). We are thrilled to be accepted by this IS school because I really can't imagine how it will be firstly his fluctuating exam results, and secondly how he can "sell" himself when applying for secondary school. He may not have a problem doing interviews....he's actually very good at these stuff. But we cannot present his handbook, his writing (horrible hand-writing), terrible artwork, etc. Then if he can't get into Band 1 Eng school, it will be a torture to him to use Chinese for all subjects. He is a lot better in Eng (he did his kindy years in Australia thus formed a very solid foundation in English).
Anyway, you're so right it will be new stages after this summer for all of us.
To BlytheBB, I work full time and has a demanding job (need to travel in the region). That's why I urgently need to hire someone to do housework (helper just left)!!
Oh, sure! Sorry I was on the way to New Town with my girl after I called you...it's her birthday yesterday so we went to Toys R us to get some toys for her! Let's talk later....when is a best time to chat during daytime?? I can call from office for a little breathing space amongst the overloading work!!!
You're quite right...no.1 has a little "disability" around writing. He also has a little problem with concentration span. Anyway as he grows up he's getting a little better.
At least he does love reading Chinese books (as we discussed before those Kam Yung stories). We will keep his Chinese hopefully to a higher than IS standard, because he's already P5 so his Chinese should not be too bad compared to IS standard. He's also attending Kumon Chinese in Putonghua (only for a few months but at least he's ok with it).
So I agree Chinese is a must so even in an IS environment, he should at least keep up his CHinese to a high standard at school. This IS is also one of those with more Chinese time than others...I think they said one lesson every day.
We went to No.2's parents session this afternoon! Again we like the school a lot, and we finally got in after 2nd int. It's great to see so many parents so keen to start with the school. No.2 suddenly behaved like a primary student today too!
Are you also thinking of 啟新? Yes that's the one my no. 1 will go to. But he's joining Year 7 only, no 大學架?? Maybe Sandy was talking about Lee po Chun which is offering IB Diploma at senior high years??
Oh, 王錦輝 is at Shek Mun, not really Ma on shan yet. It's a DSS but not international. In fact my no.1 also went to apply for this one and PKC last year. Got accepted by both and we chose PKC. I also asked Carlo a few questions about this as I know she has kids in both lah!! We're also starting to think about these 2 DSS again for no.3 when she's K3 next Sept it will be interview time again......
And RC is an international school so its fee is really high.....starting this year no.1 will be incurring a lot of expenses changing from a local school to IS lu.....
