Hi Frisbe,

I am taking Royal jelly and co-enzyme Q10 as well, last week when I went to see Dr Leong, it was my Day 12, it kept telling him that I normally have not many follicles, when he did the scan, he could see one big one on each ovary and 3-4 small ones on each ovary as well. His comment was not too bad at all, I really hope the combination is helping me as well. Just wonder I am on my 4th month of taking DHEA, is it ok if I continue taking DHEA, are you still taking them and what is your plan? I am just thinking, I may have to take them for the rest of this year till I can do the public line ivf in QM.

Hi Yim Yee,

I take 3 royal jelly daily with my 3 DHEA. How much do you take? I tried Co-enzyme but I am allergic to it. I read a lady said that her doctor strongly recommend c-enzyme and wants to do a clinical study on it. He recommends high dosage of 600 mg. I give my husband 200 mg per day and hope it helps him too.

Actually on Day 12, you can have so many follicles, it is amazing. As I said, I only had one follicle on Day 11. When will you have your IVF in QMH? Your body seems to be ready for IVF. You probably will have a good chance because of your age. Your eggs are not old and do not have further chromosome problems due to old age. I hope you can do IVF as soon as possible.

Just to do an experiment for myself. I tried to lower my DHEA to 50 mg for two weeks just to see whether my body can maintain it. My DHEA-S level quickly dropped from 600's to 400's. The 600 level gave me my last good results of 9 embryos. I guess I must stay on with 75 mg per day. I believe that you probably have to continue to take it. Otherwise you lose the effect.

You had 8 eggs retrieved last time. That means you must have at least 8 follicles. Why did you say that your follicle count was not good? Just don't understand.

I am taking 2 royal jelly pills a day, that is recommaded from the instruction. Co-enzyme q10 is good for your husband, my husband has been taking it for some time. I am planning to have another ivf in July, that's why I went to see Dr Leong see whether he can have better suggestion for our case. It is very very expensive to see him, I think I can only afford one time ivf with him, if it fails, I will just wait till next Jan the QM public ivf.

Dr. Leong is very expensive. Is he doing more blood work for you to understand your case more? Can you get that information and do the IVF in QMH first?

With the added information,you can tell the QMH doctors about your conditions. If you are successful, then no need to see Dr. Leong further. Save lots of money. If not, when you have to see Dr. Leong, he will get even more information based on your results in QMH. The success chance is higher. I think that he gave me the right dosage of stimulation because he gathered so much information from my previous IVF in Hong Kong and the U.S.

How do you know that your husband's sperm is improved by co-enzyme? My husband just started about 2 weeks ago. Too bad that I am allergic to it.

Hi Frisbe,

My follicle count was not very good on Day 3 without sitmulation about 3 to 4. With low stimulation, I did not get any mature, that's why I had to cancel my first ivf cycle and I was on very high dosage 450IU Gonal -F when I got 8 eggs last time, however, the quality of the eggs was not good, only 2 got fertilised. I was thinking whether I should still on high dosage like last time....that's why I am seeing different doctors and see their opinions before I decided which one I want to go for my next ivf.

However, it seemd to me, the count has improved a bit, as Dr Leong can see some follicles on my Day 12 even without stimulation, as he did not sound bad at all. I hope the DHEA is working on me....just keep our finger crossed.

Sometimes we have to try a few times in order to find out. This is why I hope you can do QHM first. The first two IVF, I used 450 and 600 stimulation, only got 3 to 4 embryos. Dr. Leong tried me on 150 Gonal-F and found that it was not enough. Then he raised it to 225 and it works very well.

If you can only do 1 time with Dr. Leong, you may want to save it last. I know it is not always that easy to time everything in a perfect way. There are so many factors we have to struggle.

I agree with Fribe, sometime no matter how experience the doctor is, he may still need to try a couple of times to find out the right dozage for you. So if you can only afford to do one ivf with Dr. Leong, it will be good to safe it until you have a few trial in QM (of course i wish you would need to try that many times la.). So if touch wood it doesnt work out, when you come back to Dr. Leong, he will have much more info and make the best use of that one time with him.

Dear all,

I just want to update the progress of this month IUI. Today is my day 12 and the u/s result is as follows:

Left ovary: 1 x 10mm
Right ovary: 3 x 10mm plus other small ones
Lining: 10mm thick

Dr Tung told me it's much better than my previous IUIs (only 1 or 2 follicles found in previous 3 attemps, and found 3 follicles in my second attempt 2 years ago, but it was biochemical pregnancy)

So I will get 2 more Gonal-f stimulations (225mg each) and will have the insemination this Friday & Saturday (twice)...

I know the numbers are not very excited comparing to other ladies especially with IVF. But I will try to be careful this time and try to cut down as much activities as possible, lots of sleep and fighting less with my husband. We are fighting more often these days while I am taking medications, I am so easy to get angry and upset... Of course I will continue to take DHEA and will find Royal Jelly as you girls recommended.

Will update you after the insemination.

How old are you? Your FSH is very good actually, have you even tried any ivf treatment or iui???

Thank you.
I have finished 2 bottles of DHEA already, so it's roughly 2 month I have been taking it. But many times I miss 1 or 2 dosage, so from now on I will be more careful to have the accurate dosage everyday.

It is so glad to hear about your great improvement.
BTW, do u think the improvment is due to the effect of DHEA?

I am 39 yrs old and I didnt receive any treatment yet, i think the E2 gets a big problem because it is unexpectly low, my chinese doctor told me my E2 is even lower than anyone after manopause. But my period still comes very regularly, I didnt consult my doctor yet because my treatment will start in Aug because my doctor is on vacation and business trip these months. I am going to blood test again today, I hope it was a mistake.

If you have not done any treatment, and you are not sure about your response to the stimulation drugs, and you FSH is not high, I am not sure whether you are a right candidate to take DHEA.

Yes, your E2 seems quite low, but too high is not good too. How long have you been trying for BB?

我試咗一年多d都冇成功, 我今日係day15, 我去咗照u/s, 內膜居中厚10mm, 我不知道這是好不好, 另外我左卵巢有4個卵泡直徑3mm, 右卵巢有6個卵泡, 最大10x9x9mm. 我唔知咁係ok唔ok, 個醫生話最有機會係右面粒最大, 可能會在兩三天內排卵咁樣. 我今日都比過我e2報告比我個醫生睇, 佢講咗句: 呢d嘢只能相信, 不能迷信 (?!!)

Looks like you have quite a number of follices, seems you may not need to take DHEA at this point.
However, your big follicle is only around 10mm today, I guess it may not ovulate in the next 2-3 days, I guess. Coz usually, the size of follicles need to go up to "at least" 18-20mm for ovulation. It depends how fast the follilces grow, sometimes it only grow 1-2 mm per day. Perharps u can use ovulation tester to test the time of ovulation, so that you can do "homework" at the right timing.
