What kind of congee do you give to your baby? Try different kind of food, like tomato, sweet potato, etc. Or you can try add some bottle food (e.g. spinah, carrot) to rice cereal with breast milk, then move from cereal to congee with same ingredients.

When Hoi Ching is 4-6 months, she doesn't drink much from bottle when I am out in the office. My mum and maid had to spoon feed and cup feed her and she only had 2-3 oz each time. However, she is gaining enough weight and the nurse said so far she is growing well, there no need to worry. Just want to share my experience to you and don't put to much pressure on you and PoPo.

Thks for your advise... and actually Joshua has started to eat congee for nearly 1 month luuuu and he enjoys to eat congee...

My mother hasn't boiled the apple/pear juice for him laaa coz he likes to eat foods more than milk... and he likes to eat fruits too... banana/papaya are his favourites...

Still BF? me too but plan to stop in end of April coz Joshua by that time will become 8.5 months la...

Glad to know you still can remember me. I cannot view BK during office hour and there was sth wrong in the network at home before, that's why..

BF? no more lar, I went to Malaysia for holiday at end Feb so I stopped there. Actually I struggled for long time before, cos I rather to have more time to play with my kids (I pumped the milk out only and whenever I did this, I cannot take care of them) Since my supply drops and so happened that we brought our elder one for travel, so stopped law.

I always that those 100% BF mum is very persistent and tough, add oil every BF mums here.

I also plan to stop BF in May too... coz I want to get more time to teach Joshua...

wa so serious the topic! well I think bb at this early stage, muscular coordination and whatever kind of stimulation is very important, so talking to her assisted with consistent body language can help her understand language, toys with different texture and colours can let her to have more feel on this world. Of course, physical exercise can develope her as well, I'm sure you know this very well.

Any other mums have other sharing?

I am now preparing some flash card for Hoi Ching and is planning to purchase LetterLand material to teach her Phonics. Although there are mums recommending PhonicsKids from GC, my personal opinion is Letterland offer a more comprehensive way to learn English. Since My indonesian maid cannot speak good english/cantonese, it is very important for me to build a good foundation for Hoi Ching. I am very afraid of her learning all those Indonesian accent and wrong grammar/sentence structure

Your method sounds good, can you share some more? What's LetterLand and where can I buy it??? Thanks.

For me, I have not designed any particular learning program for hayhay, just asked my maid to read him a book everyday. I will play, talk and sing to hayhay when I was back from work lor. I have played the baby enisten and mother goose vedio to hayhay but I found he can't keep his concentration for more than 5 minutes......

I plan to take hayhay to playgroup, but yet have to search a good one..... hope can spare sometime to do this 2 weeks later la......Do you have any recommendation?

I am pumping twice a day now, 10pm and 5:30am. For 10pm, I can pump out 7oz and for 5am, I can only pump out 4oz (i.e. 11 oz in total).

Last month when I pumped 4 times a day, each time could have 4oz, i.e. 16oz in total (for 2 meals). The supply did drop when I reduce the frequency.

I am planning to pump once a day later next month. Then, slowly stop my supply.

my milk supply also drops alot coz I plan to stop BF when Joshua is 8 months old. for now, the daily supply is approx 10 oz only, half of the volume than b4.

I used to sing rhymes to Joshua when I back to home every night... and play the Doman's flash card with him every night also (made by myself) ... and maybe abit later, when I get the phonic kids in hand (coz out of stock when I went to GC last week) I will use the materials to teach him phonics ...

For baby einstein, I find Joshua don't like it much coz he always be distracted by something... can't watch it for more than few minutes...

Playgroup? Yes, I've applied the one org by Christian Family Service... not exactly the 'playgroup' but something which can let bb to have some exercises... and not so expensive than those 'private playgroup'... you can have a look on the 'playgroup' chatroom in BK so as to get more info from other moms.

I pumped 3 times a day at 0700, 1300 and 1930. Every time will have around 4-5 oz, so in total 15 oz. Hoi Ching's schedule is now like this
0600 milk (from mum or bottle)
1000 milk (Bottle)
1400 congee
1800 milk (bottle)
2130 milk (from mum)

Once 2nd meal of congee is introduced, I shall stop the lunch hour pumping exercise.

As to Letterland and flashcard info, you can take a look at 教育小組, there are lots of info there. I haven't found a playgroup for Hoi Ching, as my friends say there is not much benefit. . .I'd rather spend more time with her on Saturday and Sunday. My maid speaks poor cantonese and english, so I won't ask her to teach Hoi Ching.

My son doesn't bite me (he doesn't have teeth yet

) but he gets distracted so easily. He always turns his head towards the noise with my nipple still in his mouth. It makes me 鬼死咁痛都對住我笑!

My son is not gaining weight well (only 17.7 at 8m). I'm gradually changing him on formula and hope he will get fatter...

其實唔一定食奶粉既b就重d, 婕婕食全人奶食到6個月, 0個時佢都已經22lbs, 係上個月開始先漸漸轉奶粉, 而我又唔覺轉奶粉後, 佢重得多左

但好肯定既係食人奶既b係較食奶粉既b健康, 如許可的情況下繼續食人奶會好d ga

Thanks HA and Laputa,

I also believe bf baby is healthier as my son has only been sick once so far. But after I started feeding him cereal 2 months ago, my milk supply has dropped and since he gets so easily distracted, he doesn't suck as long as before. I guess this causes the milk supply to drop further. So since last week, I always offer 2-4 oz of formula after bf him and most of the time he can finish it.

Everyone (including my husband) tell me 8 months is already very good. I'm still struggling if I should continue to do this supplement until I run out of milk or simply change him onto formula.

I'm also thinking to give 2 meals of solid instead of 1 but it means he will only have 2 times of milk a day. Is that enough? ?-(

I am also struggling on giving 2 meals of solid to Hoi Ching. . . Because she starts refusing to drink from bottle again and she only drink 3-4 oz while I am out in the office. Therefore I feed her early in the morning and before she goes to sleep. But I also want to switch to formula as I want to free my lunch time . . . .but milk,esp breast milk, are so good to babies. . .

those are dilemmas that faced by BF mum only. . .

Due to internet problem, I always can't login for discussion but I keep on viewing your discussion.

I'm BF my 8.5 months BB two times only (Morning & before sleep). She had two meals per day. I give her formula in afternoon. I heard somebody said that the ma ma milk is not so good when baby grows up to 10 months. Any comments?

Recently, I found my BB's poo poo is not solid form, abnormal as her daily solid poo poo pattern. It may not relate to food. I think it relates to teeth coming out soon. Also, her temper tantrum is fluctuated easily. Do you BB have similar problem?

When BB can turn over by herself, it really hard to change the diaper with her. When I lay her down, she will turn over immediately. It's more difficult to manage.

I read from book that they need IRON supplement . . . but Some said it's not necessary. Seems the medical world still divided in this. I am planning to switch the last nursing before sleep to formula as well in order to gain more time with baby while she's awake
