HI HI! My husband and I lived in the US for almost 20 years and we moved back to HK 6 years ago. We moved back because my husband was transferred by his company; and we wanted to spend more time with our aging parents. Then I got pregnant. my son is now almost 5.
I always wanted to move back to the US because 1) the work environment in HK is not family-oriented; 2) it is not easy for working mothers to find a job; 3) as some mothers say, HK is becoming worse...there are a lot of problems, e.g medical, real estate price, cultural differences with chinese from mainland, education and etc... and I think HK's future is not promising at all!
We always want to move back but we have not got a chance yet. The economy in the US is not good now so we dare not take the risk and move back. My husband's company wants him to stay in HK for now because the the Asian market has more potential.
Honeslty, if 1)you have saved enough money and can afford to live in a > 1000sq ft house (in a decent area), 2) you don't have to work or it is very easy to find a job in your field in HK, moving back is not bad if you want your kid to learn Chinese and /or spend more time with your families in HK.
