I am a full-time mom with a 14 1/2 months old boy. We live in Cupertino. Any mom live in this area?

Hi. My son is 12 months now. I live in Mountain View. Do you stay at home to take care your boy or do you go to work? We go to grocery shopping in Cupertino quite often. :)

I stay at home with my boy. Are you working or stay at home? I want to get a job, but day care is so expensive here, so I decide to stay home with my baby.

yungah,

my office used to be in Cupertino. but i became a full-time mom since my son was born 4 yrs ago.

actually some home-based day-cares are not that expensive (could be as cheap as under $700 a month). and some will provide a receipt for u, so it's tax dedutible if both parents work/study full time.

hi yungah,

I work full time now and I put my son in family daycare in Santa Clara. Actually, I went back to work about 1 month ago. yeah, daycare is not cheap in this area but I feel too much work staying home to take care of my son. :D I feel like there's less work when I "work" in the office compare to staying home to take care of my son. Also, I can make some money and I don't want to leave the workforce for too long and then have a hard time to look for another job later.

The other reason I am not working is because I want to spend more time with Matthew. We go to play group & mother-baby yoga every week.

Hi everybody,
I just discover this website 2 days ago and happy to see there's a forum for moms in SF. I live in Richmond area of SF City. I have a son 15-1/2 months old and am expecting another one in early Sep. Since my son is walking and is so mobile, I and my husband become so tired, especially that he always wants us to carry him when he's sleepy, hungry, ... I still work and honestly speaking, either being a working mom or a full-time mom is so difficult in here. Being a working mom, I need to squeeze time to play with my son and take care of the family (I'm lucky that my mom helps me to take care of my son in daytime), it makes me so tired particularly that I'm 30-week pregnant now. I do consider to be a full-time mom but it is hard economically. Living in SF City is really hard - high living standard but I'm not qualified for any of the social welfare.

Yeah, the cost of living in the SF bay area is pretty high and it's tough... are you going to take your maternity leave soon?

Hi bunnymonkey,

I am planning to start my maternity leave in mid or late Aug if I can. In my last pregnancy, I need to start my leave early for bed rest hence, leave me so little time afterwards to stay with my BB. So, I would like to have more time after the delivery. Also, my company is undergo a lot of changes after merger and it is critical for me to be at work for the coming month. I have discussed with my boss on my maternity leave and he's very nice - I told him that I would like to have a leave for 5-6 months. He has no problem with that but my company is under pressure of cutting headcount. If his position is in danger, so do mine. Anyway, bb is more important.

Hi Yungah,

My friend recommends me to try My Gym and she said that it's better and bigger than Gymboree. Have you tried it yet? How much for Gymboree? I'm thinking to let my son to join a class, he likes music and would dance when he hears it. He plays with some of his musical toys everyday.

Welcome to BK ah. Actually I am pretty new too , just joined BK for a couple months.

Wah, you are 三年抱兩。Me too! My son is now 3.5 years old and my daughter will be 2 in August. Do you know your second one is boy or girl?

It's true that it's tough to be pregnant, go to work, and take care of a toddler. But it's even worse when the second one is born. So be prepared la! Will your mom take care of both of your kids when(if) you go back to work? Maybe you need to hire a helper.

Hi Mrschao,

True, having 2 in 3 years is hard but as my aunt said, having a baby is a blessing, it's a luck that not everybody can have. Some of my friends, my cousins tried to have baby but cannot get 1. Some of them have even tried it for years - they are both healthy, normal - but just don't have the luck. So, I won't complain. I'm not sure if my mom can take care of 2 and that's why I want to have a longer maternity leave. At least, my son is older when I need to go back to work and the 2 kids to my mom. I live in a 1-BR apartment (can make the living room another BR but everybody has to sit in the kitchen). My mom would like to stay in weekdays and help me but I don't want her to sleep on the sofa or on the floor. Need to work it out

Are you working? Do your kids in pre-school or daycare?

Hello rose-mag, I am working full-time. My kids go to day-care center near home in Hayward. But actually I am looking to move to a better school district, probably Fremont or Union City. Real estate market has slowed down a little bit. Maybe you can consider moving to a 2 bdrm.

Any one knows any good 裝修師傅 in Fremont/Union City?

Have you bought a house in Fremont/Union City yet? I heard that the school district in Piedmont/Pleasant Hill is very good. My co-worker who lived in Haywood would move to Piedmont soon so that her son can go to the public school in Piedmont.

Yes, the real estate market is softer right now. But, we are living in my father-in-law's property (still need to pay). Unless we are going to buy a house for our own, moving out to rent another place is not easy. But, my father-in-law refused to kick some other tenant out to give us an extra apartment. :(

That's why I want to find a better pay job so that I can save more money to buy a house with my hubby but it is not easy. Now, I need to wait until the 2nd baby born first.

Oh, I see. It's not easy to squeeze every body in a small apartment... But compare to HK, maybe it's not too bad already...

We are still looking. Yes I know Piedmont is very good district, so are Dublin and Pleasanton, but houses there are a little too expensive. Also my husband work in Fremont and I work in SF, it's better to have at least one parent working close to home and schools. That's why our target is Fremont/Union City lor.

What job field are you in/what type of job are you looking for?
