Yes, I go once a week to buy heavy things like potatoes, tomatos, carrots since we use quite lot of these kind of stuff and fresh beef steak, etc..., So I need the car going to the market otherwise I get backache. Well, that's the sign which reminds me that I'm really getting old. :-( :-( :-(
During the week days, I usually buy fresh meat, fresh vegetable and most important fish. Just to make sure they are fresh.
Normally I go to the market in the morning because of the pork, I worry about if the pork is there with the butcher all day and will be not fresh anymore in the afternoon.
Almost all Portuese food need onion, 薯仔,蕃茄,carrot蘿白, such as vegetable soup, mashed potatoes, Portuguese chicken, minced pork, stew chicken or pork, roast pork, beef or fish, etc....
I think you will understand how much potatoes we use per month/year by seeing Gina and her father.
I don't drive anymore, I prefer to take a bus than driving now. Sometimes I will take my breakfast with a friend near the "Red Market" and buy something to bring home. I hardly have Gina home and can help me to carry those heavy stuff. (On Saturdays or Sundays, depends when she's free).

My house is very small. We will not have enough space to invite friends for dinner. (Oh, yeah!, you've been here once). But we can see if next gathering could be "pot luck" dinner.
