re:say no
Although I am a ex-social worker, same as some of you, I also say "no". For me is an effective way to stop the wrong doing, especially the dangerous act. But like davemum, I will explain why I "no" her. Now, when I say "no" to Wai Ching, she looks at me and "wave" her hands (she means "no"), then she may stop her act (but sometimes not work la). Then "distraction" will be used. Listening music/singing.... Wai Ching can be easily distracted by this, especially when she was crying. When we sang or let her listen music, she stopped crying at once.
In fact, I'm not a professional in child rearing, I also have problems in disciplining wai ching, sometimes she made me "mad" la. So nice to share with "姊姊們"! Thank for reminding "say no" is not an effective way, I will be aware of saying no in the future .:-P
