I don't think so, 'cos my elder son now is almost 4 years old now, the eczema grew fiercely when he was an infant, he is an allergy child, when he is growing up now, the eczema got better but still got a bit when the weather change a lot, because of his allergy, he gets cold and cough easily, so you better take much care of yr baby's health. Your doctor mentioned that 每次搽豬油膏/aqueous cream也不需要太多, 太多反而不好, 因為搽得太厚不但不能滋潤皮膚, 反而會阻礙皮膚分泌油脂is 100% correct, the same principle for all topic medication. When you apply topic cream, it MUST be in thin layer.
Using AQ for bathing is the same as for 豬油膏. My preference is in the summer time, I would use AQ because because it is less sticky. Moreover, usually in the summer, the weather is more humid. But during the winter time, where the humidity is low, I would use 豬油膏 for bathing as it has better moistuizing power.
The steps I use AQ or 豬油膏 for bathing are:
1. Put the BB inside the bathtub and wet his/her body with warm water first (remember eczema BB should NEVER use "too hot" water for bathing, because temperature difference before and after bathing will trigger flare-up)
2. Then put the AQ or 豬油膏 in the centre of your palm and then put some warm water and rub it (esp for 豬油膏 which is quite hard) until it changes into semi-liquid form.
3. Then apply it to the BB's skin the way as if you apply "liquid soap"
4. Then rinse with water. After rinse off the AQ or豬油膏, then you should immediately remove BB from water because this is the time of maximum moisturizing effect, of which a thin layer of emolliment is being coated on the skin. If you allow BB to sit in the bathtub for another 5-10 minutes, then this thin layer of emolliment will be dissolved into the water again, and the moisturizing effect will be lowered.
To be honest, a mum like you can spend time to appy cream 15 times a day is outside my imagination and make myself shameful.
Even though I know a little bit on the medication and the management of the disease, I still find difficult to always remind my 10 years old daughter to apply the cream for herself. As a parent, I can alway apply cream to her when she was a BB, but now she has been grown up and busy with her school life, what I can do is trying to educate her to take care about her own skin. But it is not very successful, I must admit.
I strongly feel as a parent, the most simple and easy thing to help a small eczema BB is to spend more time to apply AQ constantly. My personal feeling that it is much much more helpful than buying expensive emolliment cream but just apply 2 or 3 time a day.
