Hi Cutecutetown, the official PT at QM yesterday was -tive as expected, but funny that the when the dr reviewed my case with me, she shown to me she was also surprised by my bad respond and the worst is I haven't got any frozen embryo. So, I asked her if that's realated to my late start of injection, of coz she denied but at the end of converstation, she said something like this: "咁或者下次我地唔"tun"你D日子啦, "tun"第二個啦" .....(She also mentioned that some of my follicles might have ovulated even i was having the 抑制劑!!!so this may explain some of the extracted follicles were found empty????)
The dr. said my case would be discussed in their weekly meeting with professors and see anything can be done to improve my next treatment...OMG!
Cutecutetown, you know what, I already noticed very early that they postponed my start day of injection by one day, and also egg extraction by one day. The nurse mentioned that their schedule was fully booked, I was being picked to give way to others
Sorry that I really feel a bit despaired, I totally understood I have PCOS and respond to medication is really unpredictable. Just that according to my past experience, no matter iui or ivf, the injection will not start so late, and never have had the experience that my schedule got pushed back becoz the dr was busy.
My Miss M has yet arrived today which is quite unusual for me, today is already day 17 after ET. Is it not uncommon that the cycle may get messed up due to a lot of injections? But as per my past experience, my period came not long after 14day if no implanation is occured when I was on iui treatment previously.
QM told me I have to queue again for my next treatment, maybe 3-4months later, however if I don't have my period next week, I need go for another PT
Dear MeikoBB,
It looks like some poor management over there. Of course they can do better if there will be a next time, but then will you still go back for yet another treatment?!
By the way, with 抑制劑, you were definitely on "short" protocol (or antagonist protocol). I cannot comment whether the "delay" in injections or egg retrieval day caused the poor outcome, but it is certain that they need to review your case in an attempt to give you a better treatment in terms of timing and perhaps injection dosage. Routinely, as an ivf treatment centre, we have to review cases on a regular base as part of our ongoing monitoring and quality improvement.
This cycle is not a "natural" cycle, so it won't follow your "natural" cycling pattern. The body is far more "confused" even when compared to iui because you have a lot of hormone injections and also the progesterone support after ET. Since the cycle is a little messed up, it won't hurt to wait a little while lining up for your next treatment.
It is frustrating and I feel for you. Try to look on the bright side that this is really the worst experience you can get, so what is to come can only be better and can't be worse.
I previously had asked my doctors how "thick" shoud the endometrial layer be; they said anything at or above 7mm (0.7cm) is ok. So, it really depends on what you meant by 0.8. Usually, the endometrial thickness is one factor, embryo quality is another. How many embryos you had each time of IVF? Age-related?
There is yet to find a food, or anything, that can truly improve egg quality and/or endometrial thickness. Remember, moderation is the key; don't over-do even if people say eating something will help. If you lead an inactive lifestyle, please consider doing some moderate exercises. This is to encourage blood flow to your ovaries (where your eggs reside) and your uterus; however, you will need to keep it up in order to see the effect.
I am 35 and the endometrial layer is 0.75cm when I did the embyro transfer. I already put 3 embyros but still failed. My doctor said my response wasn't good as per my age. He expected my eggs quality should be better. I am still struggling should I do the 3rd IVF or not. I will try to force myself to do more exercise and hope to improve my body condition.
My doctor always asked me not to take Chinese medicine before or after IVF. Actually, I really don't know whether it really affect the results of IVF or the doctor only afraid that will affect the hormone level?

I don't recommend taking Chinese medicine either; it is the worst unknown in the whole process!

I just finished my appointment with queen mary. yesterday was my day 1. when dr did the ultrasound today, she told the nurse "left 5, right 3". does it mean i already have 8 eggs in my ovary? if yes, today is day 2, is it possible to have eggs in ovaries now already? if this afternoon i receive no call from hospital, it means i can start the injection tomorrow. nurse prescribed me 7 days first. first 2 days 300 and the rest 5 days 150. then come back to them for another ultrasound....i will go to clinic for injection instead of doing it by myself...
Any idea on the figures i just mention? is the dosage normal or less than others?
Sure cutecutetown I will not do that at all. Its risky. I have finally found a new doctor, hoping things turns out new and better with the new doctor. I failed IVF with the last doctor and I have no longer confidence on the lab or him. Thanks.

Yes, I did ivf at private clinic. But want to change dr for the next time as I think my dr is too busy that he cannot spare much time in taking care patients. Every consultation seem to be in a rush.

Good on you. Sometimes jm thinks that busy dr = successful dr. Maybe, but you need a caring dr too!

Dear pigsmoomoo,
Eggs are always in your ovaries since you were born, but they exist in a very tiny form. Each cycle, some of these eggs from this "store" will be recruited to grow and mature; if in a natural cycle, these few selected eggs will even compete to become the dominant and mature "one" which will then be ovulated to meet up with a sperm.
By doing IVF, we try to stimulate these few selected eggs of that particular cycle so that most (or all) of them can become mature; i.e. you get more than just one egg to be fertilized. The "left 5, right 3" likely refers to the antral follicles, which are still tiny structure but visible on ultrasound. These follicles should contain the selected eggs of this cycle and they will hopefully grow together as your body receive the hormonal injections.
The dosage you receive is normal; I am guessing you are probably ~35 yrs old or below? This is just my wild guess; your doctor will know much better because they have got your blood results and other background information of you so that he/she decides on the protocol and dosage. When you go in after 7 days of injections, the ultrasound will show the growing progress of those "left 5 right 3".
i can feel you. some jm here did change their.doctors when they felt not alright. go for the recommended ones. and from now you can prepare yourself physically for next round. 加油!
hello there. thx for your swift reply. i sounded so silly when i didnt know about the store thing and born thing. hahahaha. embarrassed!! shuuuu
so it means even after i have all my injectiona done days later, at most i will get 8 eggs that i currently have for this cycle? i thought the injections can induce more eggs for ivf, which makes me have more eggs than what i now have. does it mean the injections just stimulate all 8 eggs grow bigger?
i am trying to understans the whole process and manage my expectations so that i wont get disappointed by false expectation and belief.
its.good to have a pro peraon to answer our questions. you are god sent
Btw i am already 38. less than a month i am 39 la. not young any more!!!
You may get around 8 eggs, sometimes a little more or fewer. The injections make one cohort of eggs grow; so, if you have ~8 in this cohort, they will grow at similar pace. Suppose you are not on any injection, i.e. natural cycle, only 1 of them will grow to maturity and be ovulated.
Many have the misconception of "the more the better". Well, to a certain degree, yes; but when you have too many in quantity, quality is very likely to be compromised. Besides, when a woman gets too many eggs from ivf stimulation, she is often at risk of OHSS and embryo transfer needs to be postponed. Many jm's get disappointed and anxious when they can't have a fresh embryo transfer!
I actually asked my hubby to leave the so called first batch of semen to the hospital for fridge, because we wanna play safe, am afraid he would be too nervous on the day of eggs retrieval.
Unfortunately he is now on antibiotics, medication ends tomorrow. if he leaves the semen on coming tuesday should we postpone the day to say thursday? actually will the anitbiotics affect the quality of sperms??
Dear pigsmoomoo,
Antibiotics should not affect sperm quality.
If you worry, you may postpone the sperm freezing to Thursday. Perhaps on Monday, your hubby may masturbate to get rid of the "old sperm in the system" so that sperm obtained on Thursday will be "newer".
I'm 32 years old, and I'd try 3 times IVF within these one and half year, but all failed, and no 雪胎, because of my high FSH, around 9.x - 14.x,
but I dun want to give up, and I want to try the 4th IVF,
do you think I better rest for 3 cycle, or no matter try again in next cycle?
will it affect the results, thanks!
