ST.CATHERINE INTERVIEW ON 11/11/05 ( 11:00)
-Entered St.Cat at 10:30, it is no need to line up outside of the school, I can enter with Moses
and lined up inside the school, then entered a big classroom to get back his application form.
- this year, both parents are allowed to enter into the classroom & proceeded the interview,
- unfortunately I didn’t ask my hubby to take the annual leave as I don’t know..
there are a lot of applicants .. the teachers , staffs, and native speakers teachers are very nice,
I can see the differences between this school with previous schools , like St.Nicholas, Tsung Tsin,
Keen Mind. The teachers are very professional.
I needed not wait for long time so I can quickly enter the interview room within 10 mins,
There are 2 teachers sitting on the chair, side by side. When we entered , the last applicants were
Still there, and I felt the teacher at right side table was more nice, and she was wearing a big smile to the child, then I told myself, I hope she is Moses’s interviewer.
The interview started:
-I asked Moses to pull out the chair by himself, and sit down by himself, and he did.
-I said “ Good morning teacher”, and asked Moses to follow, he followed with incomplete sentences,
then :
Teacher : what is your name ( in Chinese)
I : tell teacher what your name is ( in English)
Moses : ses
Teacher answered : ses ? oh, your name is Moses.. ( when she saw the application form )
Teacher : how old are you ? ( in Chinese )
I : tell teacher how old you are ( in English)
Teacher : why did you ask in English?
I : because sometimes he cannot speak the long words of English.. ,
Teacher asked again “ how old are you “ ( in English)
Moses : two ( showed her with his fingers)
Teacher : who took you there ?
Moses : --- ( no response)
Teacher : who is her ( pointed to me )?
Moses : mommy .
Teacher : where is your mouth ? what is it for ?
Moses : pointed out his mouth ,.. but cannot explain the function, only said some bb words…
Then he was required to do matching, teacher showed him a big picture with different kind of animals, then took out the cards with same pictures and asked him to do matching. He did all but didn’t follow put the small cards on the top of the big pictures, he only did the matching and immediately put the cards on left hand side.
Then, teacher asked “ which animal is flying in the air “.
Moses then pointed out the bird, and said “ bird bird”. The teacher asked “ which animal is swimming in the water ?” Moses then pointed out the duck.
When Moses saw the pictures, he was so happy and told teacher what the animals are.
Then teacher showed another pictures with different kind of foods, and asked him to do matching again. This time, she took out the same looks of the foods ( toys), and asked Moses to do matching one by one., Moses could do all but didn’t follow the orders.
Then teacher asked “ what is it “( showed him the biscuit), Moses said “ Biscuit”- in Chinese.
Then teacher asked him to distinguish the sounds when teacher shacked the ice-cream box, which something have been put inside…. Moses can distinguish which two are same. Meantime, when he heard the ice-cream box without sound , Moses questioned the teacher “ 無 ?“.
Finally the teacher asked me – what would you do with Moses at night , are you working mom?
Why do you select us ? what is your expectation with Moses ?
Finally teacher gave him the biscuit , and I said” what would you say to teacher ?
Moses said “ Thank you “. Then said bye bye to teacher.
interview finished at 10:55. so efficient , i mean ST.Cat.
I am so satisfy with his performance though he is not 100% correct.
after the interview, i love this school very much, though the campus is old, i can see the 生氣 , and the decoration on the boards are very good, .. a big difference among the schools i visited..
I am glad that Moses can response, hope he can pass. ( if not passed, i think it is because i helped him?? or my background ? )
