My elder half-sister's son is 24 already as she married at a very early age. My younger sister's monster just turns 8. My youngest sister, who is in SH is single and she enjoys her single life so much - just got promoted, high salary and freedom. She just returns from holidays in Australia a month ago and she told me she will go to Japan for 5 days during CNY.
Happy Chinese New Year to all Canada's Mom and Dad.
I am planning to goto Market Village tonight. They have fireworks tonight. Great place to watch while you are inside the car crawling into the parking lot.
Or First Markham Place - same old parking problem.

will you consider of applying for the "maple leaf card"? i have friends who have similar case, but she will apply for maple leaf card instead. she had consulted a lawyer (the lawyer is her friend, he will proceed the application for her). she needs to apply at the last month of her deadline of application.
Friday night, we went to First Markham after dinner. Better than I expected, it took me one hour to find the parking spot. (Although my wife kept telling me to park in Winner's instead)
The mall is packed. We bought some 'fai chun' and we left before midnight. (I just don't want to go thru another hour waiting to get out the mall after the countdown)
Sat., we went to Pacific Mall. I must in luck. I was able to find the parking spot within 3 minutes. (12noon). The usual window shopping.
Yesterday we went to '3 rice 3' (Brimley / Steeles). Excellent food. Highly recommended to all Torontian mom/dad. At night, we went to Boston Market. I must admit the chicken tastes better than Swiss Chalet but for two meals that cause me $20, I rather goto Chinese rest. instead.
To Alicewong:
ckkwkl is right. Go and apply for the 'Maple Leaf Card'. It's for your best interest.

i was lucky too. i drove to the parking spot nearest to the entrance first, someone was leaving right the way - just in front of king tai fung where we were going for dinner. used less than 1 minute to find a parking spot. my sisters had to park at the cinema.

fyi, if you are not applying for the maple leaf card or citzenship, you will lose your residency in canada. there is a deadline for applying for maple leaf card, depending on the date of your first landed date. if landed in1997, it will be May 2003, as I landed in 1997 too. However, I have applied for citzenship in Dec 2002, so need not applying for the card.
also, you need to be in canada in person during the process. take photo for the application form, as you know, there is a certain standard of photo size and stamp chop is needed from the photo shop. on the other hand, you will be called to take the photo by the department for the "maple leaf card", which will be scanned on the card.
Speaking about 'King Tai Fung'. The only thing I like is the Crab brooth dumpling. However it's quite expensive. Have you tried the Marcu Ho Kong rest. which locate close by Kenny's Noodle. Their tea and coffee are the best in Toronto. (in chinese favour, of course)
king tai fung is the only restaurant that we can make reservations that night, by means of relationship. agree that their food is not very good except for the "xiao lung bao" types. i like "wu wor yuk (pork)" very much, but that night the meat is too "hai", not tender at all. for shanghai food, i usually go to the little shop at warden/kennedy ??, i think.
macau ho kong is best for tea and coffee only, you make me think of the taste of their tea again now. i am not a picky person but their food are below standard very much. :-( . hard to shallow.
i will try "3 rice 3" tonight, as i am thinking hard where to go for dinner tonight before the brownie meeting. i don't want to go to the shops at finch/midland anymore, have been there so many times la, want to try some new places.
Dear ckkwkl,

do you have relatives or friends in vancouver to check with a lawyer or immigration agency for you first. for my friend, the lawyer agrees to help in applying because he knows them personally. if you just walk in, there may be some trouble. so please check clearly.
it is hard to advise which situation is good for you, depending on your luck and if you would take the risk. for my friend, they just decided to come back to stay in canada for good, as they are afraid of losing the residency too. they will apply for citzenship after really stay in canada for 3 years, they don't want to cheat.
i knew another friend, never stay in canada but apply for citzenship and success. however, he needs to come back 3 times within 4 months - fingerprint, exam, oath. he is lucky as there's no need for him to present the in/out status report from hk. some of my friends need.
I saw from another topic regarding citzenship card, I have not applied this for my younger daughter, she got her passport only. Where should I go to apply this? Thanks.
You don't require to get a citizenship card for your daughter, in fact, if your child is born in Canada, his/her birth certificate is already a valid proof of Canadian citizen.
However, if you insist to get her one, which cost around $75, here is the form
You need Adobe acrobat reader in your PC in order to access this file.
I called the immigration too after reading it from other topics in this website.
They also confirm that you don't need a citizenship card. Here is the # 416-973-4444
The reason why 黃鴨仔媽媽 needs one is because her daughter is born abroad even either parent is Canadian citizen and to apply Canadian passport, she needs to get the citizenship card first.
