Sandy, Usborne is an UK publisher of kids books, it has MANY MANY series suitable for kids. I like its "First Picture" series and "Farmyard Tales" series and have a few books of them (I bought some from PageOne). For "Easy Words to Read" series, it is more related to phonics, it has phonics-based text and fold-out flaps in some pages, I didn't buy this series as AliBB is using Oxford phonics.

I never buy books from RainXXXt.com as it always marks up the price. If you really want to buy this series, you could try the website I sent you a month ago for Eric Carle books. There is also another online bookstore with storage room in UK carries some of these books, but as the storage room is in UK, it takes longer time for delivery.

For example, I just compared the price among these 3 sites for "Sam Sheep Can't Sleep":
- RainXXXX.com..............................$57
- the one I sent you earlier...............$54
- UK storage room...........................$40

But definitely, you need to be aware of the delivery charge difference among these 3 sites, and min charge.

The "Easy Words to Read" series for beginner readers blends a phonics-based text with a funny story and is designed to help children crack the reading code with ease. Some pages have fold-out flaps, while inside the back cover there is a phonic breakdown of the words in the book. When comparing to "Clever Dog", Clever Dog's main purpose is "reading" and NOT "phonics", so, it is hard to do an apple-to-apple comparison. However said that, the "Easy Words to Read" is similar to the Dora phonics bookset I have at home, both are using phonics-text based stories, the only difference between these 2 is Usborne uses "Animals" as the character, while "Dora" is about a little girl and her pets.

Not sure whether you will "bid" books from auction sites. I found a set of 6 "Usborne Easy Word to Read" books selling at US$18.17 (i.e. around HK$23.6/book). Seem like good deal, but again, bidding books from auction sites, you need to bare risk like "bad seller", "used books", "missing package", "long delivery time", etc... esp. when the sellers are from overseas... :wink: :wink:

If you 2 are NOT a big fan of Usborne, and if you just wanna find phonics-text based story books like Usborne but does not matter of the publisher, the Random House's "Step Into Reading" is a cheaper choice. This is the link: http://www.randomhouse.com/kids/books/step/books/books_step1/

All the books marked with "

" means phonics story books. Step Into Reading is around HK$40 for list price, and it could be sold at around HK$25-32 after discount. So, it should be another option for phonics story books.

thanks and really learn a lot from you.... I was first attracted by the cute and colorful pictures, not consider it as thoughtful as you la.... I'll go to page 1 to look look first. I also noted the set selling in ebay.... my hubby loves to bid things from ebay and so far so good (of course he'll select the seller).... I want to bid a set of ORT at home 2 wks ago, but my hubby fell asleep and someone just outbid me lor :-( :-(

So, poor AliBB.... what happen to her??? Does she need to put on the Chi medicine on her knee?

Sent, please check pm. I bought books from #2 and #3 websites before, good services.

I bought my Oxford RaT series from Idea. I also bought the flash card. Heard that book 5 series has just come out, have already reserved 1 set of book 5 series, but forgot to collect it from Mongkok...

Forgot to mention, as there is no mum going to Fo Tan bookstore with me, so, I went last week by myself. Found some "Step Into Reading" books selling at 50% off, i.e. $20/book.

Yeah, the set is in eBay!! Seem like good seller with 100% score...

Yeah, I also like the colorful pictures used in Usborne books, this is the main reason why I bought its "First Picture Word Book".

We went to see AliBB's family doctor, so, she is now having western medicine... not sure whether this is OK or not. But I don't think AliBB could stand the Chinese medicine.... her first reaction will be "what is the taste of the chocolate cream... um... yummy...."
