i wish we could join you guys for the gathering if we would get to macau in time.
my boy is really bored in here (HK now). we went to an indoor playground today. he tried to say hi and introduce himself to the other kids (in cantonese), but they just ignored him. then he asked other older kids to let him play the video game, but he was asked to go away. when we left, he went back to the kids and said "bye bye. see you next time" (in cantonese). also, no one cared about him. poor little guy ... he missed his friends back home.
it made me feel that the kids in HK are kinda rude and unfriendly.
Don't be upset of what happened with your little boy in the indoor playgroup in HK. He might meet someone nicer next time, then he will be better and not so bored.
As what Yut Hei said, I seldom see this kind of things heppen here in Macau. Sometimes they play so well and don't even want to say goodbye!! If you are able to come to Macau, I'm sure both Stephenie and Chun Chun or some other kids would like to play with your son.
By the way, my English is not really good. I studied in a Chinese school before when I was young. I felt sorry for not being a good student. So lazy and learnt so little....
and I'm not an English teacher. I'm a housewife now. I retired 4 years ago. So old.....
:-( :-( :-(
actually his cantonese is still more fluent than his english so far. and i think his cantonese probably is about the same as other 3-yr-olds in HK.
when he's back home, he could even play with stranger kids anywhere (e.g. running in the store).
anyway, he tried to approach to a group of 6 to 9-yr-old boys who're playing video games (in the entertainment room/playground of a residential buliding). they said he's too young.
maybe i have a little prejudice on the HK kids. maybe their parents don't spend enough time with them, coz they were all accompanied by the filipino maids and all the "bun bun" were chating.
last year, when he was playing at the same place, he was hit by an older kid who's accompanied by a "bun bun". since then, he learned to hit by getting his own way and it took us a while to correct him.
so, i admired those moms in HK/macau who stayed home to take care of their kids and don't hire "bun buns" although they're cheap to hire.
