Is your maid really that bad,
or just your 99 being jealous and exerting her authority (power struggle) ?

Your maid has been around for a vvv short time ja woh ?!
I know your sis-in-law is the empl in name, but who will do the housework w/o a maid around ? Your 99 ? Not likely woh ==> the burden falls on you.

Or ask your hubby to quit his job and go home to do the housework loh.

Sorry but I am VVV sarcastic towards the oldies not being practical.

My concl :
A maid is a necessity. So long as not tooooo bad, cheap labour, and no need to do the dirty work myself. haha

I will be in TST YMCA at 7pm this Friday, to collect piglet from his last swimming lesson this quarter.

Where will you be at 7:30 pm ?

Can treat piglet to some snack in the interim and wait for you in that area if you're OK.

Like I said, get a copy of your (hubby's) insurance policy and pass it to Dr HY's nurse for a look and see what she says. They wouldn't want you / your son to swim away for a minor technical problem.

Can you pls tell how do you know that your kids got the problem of 扁桃腺天生大&有睡眠窒息?

I find Kv seems cannot breath in midnight during some time. He would sit on the bed (not awakened) and "snort". I want to check check what's up with him.

If you really want to find out, then Kevin need to attend the sleeping test...sleep one night at hospital to check the breath when he sleeps.
(my case around $6000, can claim insurance)

May be you can see the ENT doctor for details.

KL,

Ask Kv to open his mouth and say Ahhhhh, look down his throat.

If you only see a huge hole (O), = nothing wrong with his tonsils.

If you see something like :
___
()__()

ie 2 big lumps at the sides,
= his tonsils are still enlarged and did not shrinkk.
(Tonsils are the 1st line of protection against viral infection, will swell ==> sore throat when attacked. But at 4y to 6y, normally the tonsils will shrink ==> small, will not block air path.)

Then if his tonsils are normal but he still has breathing problems, possibilities are :
1. nose allergy 鼻敏感,whenever he comes into contact with allergenic material 致敏源, eg dust mites, pollen.
2. Asthma
3. Enlarge adenoid which blocks his air duct <-- this one is hidden in air duct behind the nose, can't see it.
If enlarged adenoid, can take some imaging (not sure whether CT scan or MRI but that sort of thing) to confirm.

But for confirmation of sleep apnea, must take sleep test in hospital, if can't breathe (really stop breathing) for n times each time s seconds during a specified time, then the patient is determined to have sleep apnea, and depends on cause, need to do something about it, eg surgery.

So check and see what Kv's problem is. Go to an ENT specialist la, e.g. Dr. HY in Peddar House. If nose allergy or asthma then I heard the ex-hubby of Ros Wong, i.e. Dr. Alfred Tam Tat Cheung , is a good specialist in child respiratory medicine. Or get a referral from your family doc for the sleep clinic in QMH. But takes a much longer time cos you need to queue for appointment. Also sleep clinic in PWH and Kwong Wah. (several more in other hosp but I am not sure which ones)

I didn't even know that piglet had sleep apnea, nor enlarged tonsils + adenoid. Just took him to see Dr. HY for nose-bleeding, then Dr HY looked all over piglet, and pointed out the large tonsils to me.
Then he said, piglet's major prob is not his nose bleeding, but becos of piglet's fattiness and other symptoms, no need for test he is sure to have sleep apnea (also piglet snores, which is one of the symptoms, and always sleep, and tired even after long night's sleep).

I trust Dr HY cos he is a v straight person not the dum case type, and he knows where I work and we had prev contact. And piglet has a classmate who took all the sleep apnea test + has nose allergy and her mum asked me to check with Dr HY his fees for doing the tonsilitis + adenoid surgery ==> ended up I needed the fee quote too and both kids doing the op on same morning.

yes, i knew the sleep clinic at Kwong Wah...and booked an appointment when my son was P.1

Do you know when can we see the doctor at the sleeping clinic at Kwong Wah??

the appointment is after two years, which as P. 3

But at that time, there are swine flu, so we didn't go there finally. My son is P. 4 recently.

Actually Kv has medical insurance (offered by my employer). I have to find out how much I can claim if he does have the problem similar to that of piglet and LSW's son.

Total bill from HK Sanitorium = ~HK$4xxxx, for surgery, 3 nights in big room + 1 extra "bed", meals, medicine, drip, etc. Exact $ you need to pay out of your own pocket depends on the insurance coverage.

Under $1000 per consultation (ENT specialist)

For Dr. Hui Yau, normally $900 per consultation recently.

Sleep test around $6000 at Hk Sanitorium

if you want to go to Kwong Wah for an appointment, you need to ask the general doctor to write a referral letter. But you can only see the PED. doctor. you need to ask and request to have the sleep test....but at all, depends on the doctor and whether it is necessary. Can not book the sleep clinic directly.

All i can said -- it is waste time and too long for the quene.
