Hello pigpig78, congratulations on your new baby! I've been following your discussions about taking care of the baby and just like to share some experience as I'm also a new mum.
I think the most inconsoluable cries from babies are being disturbed when they need the sleep & hunger!
Waking baby up during the day & keep him awake is difficult esp your baby is only a few weeks old. Things like taking milk, looking around for a bit, listening to the noises in the house take lots of energy so they need to sleep. I tend to let him sleep whenever he wants to. My baby slept most of the time (day & night) for the first 4 months ~ then he put on weight very well. If you can, catch some sleep when he sleeps so that you can take care of him when he doesn't sleep during the night.
I didn't do anything to quit his night feed and I did wake him up for a feed until he was about 3 months old and then move onto 'feed on demand'. He slept through the night at about 4.5 months.
I think many mums in HK are very concerned about making sure their babies sleep thro' the night at early months as many of them have to get back to work a few months after the baby is borned. I have taken things easy as we have a much longer maternity leave ~ plenty of time to train the baby and I thought I can't be too uptight about these rules for baby yet as I need to catch my breath and recover myself and not getting stressed out if the baby doesn't 'do as told'!
Just relax and do whatever you can and you are comfortable with. Things will only get easier once you get the hang of it! Now thinking back, I really don't remember how difficult it was (but I think I was in a much more difficult situation than you)!
i don;t expect bb can sleep through the night in just few wks.
but i do hope that he can sleep better during the night as i don;t want him to wake up my hubby and 6299 as my hubby has to work during the day.
i am hoping that he only need 1 feed in the middle of the night rather than 2-3 feed so that my hubby can sleep better as we are sleeping on the same bed.
i am sure things will only get better soon

If you only need to pump occasionally then you can just use Avent hand pump. I feel swing is the best but I pump several times a day so I need an electric pump.
