Hey, mentioned about my US colleague back to HK to have lunch with me.
He has spent 15 yrs with the company in the merge and acquisition. For which 8 years he took his wife and girl, now is grade 6 and has just got the green card. He said he will require another 5 years to get the passport/citizen. He burnt the bridge by sold the flat and wife quit the job like migration. We see this as venture as no guarantee to have a US residency.
My US office as mentioned is in Virginia and he has requested to work from home, so relax for him. He said the 2 months holiday is so granted and it's a headache how to spend it sometimes. Also since he worked 8 years, his boss has asked if he would like to return, but to Singapore, he worries he can't find an international school for her daughter, but I doubt it.
The US life is so fantastic and since he works for 8 years, if 2 more years, he could granted the right to get pension by the age of 65 till his death no matter where he accommodates. He then receives a couple of USD10K+ annually. His daughter has learnt English and Japanese for all these years and life is so good in US.
All my colleagues have a thought, was the above true or should one to take the next venture to make this happens?
My younger son's "HK trip" has been cancelled due to the amber rainstorm warning this morning, they were meant to go to Bauhinia Square, Avenues of Stars, History Museum for this month theme topic of Hong Kong.
